CHRISTINE WISER, 92, LEXINGTON (FORMERLY OF LIBERTY)

Christine Wiser, age 92 of Lexington, KY (formally of Liberty) passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Mayfair Manor Nursing Home. She was born September 13, 1926 to the late Lonzie & Ollie Belle Whited in Liberty, KY.

Her parents were tenant farmers and much of her childhood was spent helping her father with the horses and in the fields. As a child, she walked gravel roads to one-room school houses at Brush Creek and Good Hope.

On January 28,1946 she married the love of her life Jimmy Wiser. Together they had 2 children: DeAnna & the late Aubrey Lee Wesley of Liberty and DeAngelo & Nancy Wiser of Nicholasville, KY. She is blessed to have a granddaughter: LeDia & Aaron Espinoza of Parker, Colorado and a great grandson: Colter Espinoza also of Parker, CO. She spent her professional life of 20 years as a nurse’s aid at Kentucky State Hospital in Danville, KY and Oakwood in Somerset, KY. Her distinguished service was honored with several awards. In 1983, after the passing of her husband she retired from government service.

Inspired by her childhood of farming with her dad, she returned to those roots when she bought a 60-acre farm, finished and landscaped a partially built house and promptly started raising cattle, growing hay, harvesting and canning award winning vegetables in her garden, producing beautiful flowers and quilting prize-winning quilts and braided rugs. She did all this with her beloved dog Tiny by her side. She also provided private care to elderly sisters who had no family. When time allowed, she relaxed and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her many friends in the Homemaker’s Society.

Those who knew her would describe Christine as independent, having a spirit of assertiveness, a tireless worker, someone they could count on and who stood up for what’s right. Above all, she had a willingness and faith to trust in God in all decisions.

She was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church, Red Hat Society, Liberty Hospital Board, Homemaker’s Club, Friends of the Library, Election Day Volunteer and the Casey County Pork Producers.

Besides her parents and spouse she was preceded in death by One Brother: Evert Whited and One Sister: Bessie Fair and a Great Grandson: Quentin Espinoza.

Visitation: 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.EST, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 and after 8:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel
