She was a school teacher for thirty-eight years, starting as a typing teacher at Middleburg High School and then at Casey County High School until she joined the Business and Office Department at the Casey County Vocational School when it opened in 1970. One of the subjects she taught there was shorthand. Her teaching skills made a difference in the lives of thousands of students, many of whom credit her with helping them find a lifelong career. Even after retiring in 1997, she continued to substitute teach another twelve years. She was a 1956 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

Jane was a member of the Casey County Homemakers and loved raising a variety of flowers. She also loved to travel, especially to Charleston, South Carolina. Jane was a member of Antioch Christian Church and attended Corinth First Church of God.

She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Billy Clements of Lexington, Cassy Elmore of Liberty, Derrek Clements of Lexington, Andrea O’Leary of Lexington, Doug Streeval of Cleveland, Ohio, Meghann Randolph of Lexington, Brett Randolph of Somerset, Abbie Johnson of Liberty, Allison Overstreet of Richmond, Andrew Randolph of Indianapolis, Indiana, Will Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama, Emma Iler of Lexington, Lily Iler of St. Louis, Missouri and Julia Johnson of Bowling Green. In addition, she was deeply loved by eight great-grandchildren, Tristan and Briar Elmore of Liberty, William and Benji O’Leary of Lexington, Kiera Clements of Liberty, Clay Brewer of Liberty, Arabella Randolph of Indianapolis, Indiana and Blake Randolph of Somerset. Other survivors include three sisters, Iva Lee True of Liberty, Georgeanna Kelso of Fayetteville, Tennessee and Johnnye Powers of Fairfield, Ohio; and a special friend, Betty Huff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Ransom Wilder Elmore.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Willingham officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.
