Herbert Louis Atwood, 80, of Stanford, KY passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at home. Born November 5, 1938 in Liberty, KY to the late James “Pete” Atwood and Florence Sweeney Atwood.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, a former member of the Army Reserves, and a retired employee of Allen Company where he worked as a truck driver. He was also a member of Watson Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors: 1 son, George Atwood (Jan) of Bethelridge, KY; a daughter, Terri Cochran of Liberty, KY; 1 step-daughter, Dee Terry of Stanford, KY; 1 sister, Lillian Smither (Ronnie) of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Campbell, Marcus Cochran, Celese Cochran, Ashley Barnes, and Wesley Jones; 4 step-grandchildren, Patrick Terry, Nicholas Jones, Brian Boyd, and Randy Boyd; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Cecil Louis Campbell, Clayton Miller Barnes, and Connor Lee Barnett; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Terry, Shayla Terry, Brooklyn Terry, Kimberly Roark, and Garrett Terry; several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lowell Atwood and Lucian Atwood; 3 sisters, Lucille Atwood, Lois Skaggs and Louise Lane; and 1 step-grandson, Kevin Terry.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY from 5-8pmET
Funeral service will be 2pmET Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the funeral home with Jason Coulter officiating
Burial will follow at Wilson Ridge Cemetery in Liberty, KY

Casketbearers will be Wesley Jones, Marcus Cochran, Patrick Terry, Nicholas Jones, Mike Atwood, and Marion Atwood. Military rites will be provided by Casey County Honor Guard.
