CAROL JEAN (ROYSE) THIBODEAU, 56, BOWLING GREEN

 
Carol Jean (Royse) Thibodeau, 56, of Bowling Green, KY passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.  She was born to James and Zona Royse of Columbia, Kentucky, on January 25, 1963.  
 
She was a 1981 graduate of Adair County High School, where she was salutatorian of her graduating class and solo trumpet for the ACHS Band.  She received her bachelor’s (’85) and master’s (’88) degrees in music education from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Jean had a heart of gold and was a person of many talents. She was artistic as well as an accomplished singer and trumpeter. She was an active member of Broadway United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the praise band for many years. She was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. Professionally, she served as a band, choir, and elementary/general music teacher in Kentucky, California, and Tennessee for 33 years. 
 
She will especially be remembered for her passion of children’s musical theatre and the performing arts, and how she brought the joy of music to young people, most recently at Lost River Elementary School and Jennings Creek Elementary School in Bowling Green, KY where she taught for the past 12 years.  
 
Jean was preceded in death by her father, James Royse, of Columbia, KY.  
 
SURVIVORS:
Husband of 22 years: Glenn Thibodeau
2 daughters: Claire & Mallory Thibodeau
Mother: Zona Royse, Columbia, KY
1 sister: Linda (Royse) McGrew, Athens, Alabama
2 brothers: David Royse, Knoxville, Tennessee; John Royse, Simpsonville, KY
 
Cremation was chosen by the family. 
 
Visitation: Friday, June 7, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pmCT and Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 8:30am-10:00amCT
 
Funeral Service: Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00amCT with Reverend Louis Tagliaboschi presiding
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support musical theatre at Jennings Creek Elementary School (2617 Russellville Road, Bowling Green, KY, 42101). Donations may be sent to Jennings Creek Elementary School PTO at the school address.  
 
J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels and Crematory, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, KY in charge of arrangements.
