Betty Ruth Hill, 83, of Russell Springs, KY died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Saturday, August 31, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Jamestown, KY.
Betty attended high school at Berea College then lived in Ohio for 30 years where she was active in her children's lives and in the community. She was a nurse at Parkwood Elementary, a Cub Scout den mother, helped with Girl Scout outings and was a frequent volunteer for the 1880s-themed events at Carriage Hill Farm.
Betty returned to the Russell County area in 1985 where she became involved with Russell County Hospital Auxiliary, serving for 34 years in various positions. She donated her time teaching a sewing and quilting class at the Jamestown Library for several years and was a long standing member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church. Betty loved quilting, socializing, camping, classic country music and dancing, and had a smile that could light up a room.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Olza Mae Stearns and her beloved life partner, Jimmy Douglas Johnson.

4 Children: Ed Hill (LeAnn) of Fairborn, Ohio; Sandy Ledbetter of Fairborn, Ohio; Gary Hill (Valerie) of Vandalia, Ohio; Nancy Evans (Rob) of Xenia, Ohio
8 Grandchildren: John (Becky), Aaron (Aimee), Chris (Cassie), Tim, Stephanie (Luke), Jake (Liz), Sonya (Pat), and Megan (Jordan)
13 great-grandchildren
Many friends including Georgia, Mike and Karen

Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 from 6:00pm-8:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs
The family requests memorials be made to the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary or to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
