ZELMA MERLE STOTTS FUDGE, 88, COLUMBIA

 
Zelma Merle Stotts Fudge, 88, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia. She was born August 1st, 1931 in Adair County to the late Wilbert Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Furkins Stotts.
 
Mrs. Fudge was the widow of James Ordell Fudge, who preceded her in death on October 5th, 2009. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Daryl Gene Fudge in 1949.
 
Mrs. Fudge was a member of Red Lick Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Circle R during its earliest days, several area sewing factories including Lyon Uniform, Osh Kosh, and two different ones in Burkesville, KY but found her calling in housekeeping at Summit Manor. Her job there was more akin to a ministry and she served in that role for 22 years until 2 broken wrists would no longer allow her to perform her job.
 
SURVIVORS:
1 son: Billy Joe Fudge & wife Libby of Columbia, KY
3 Grandchildren: Shay Knifley & husband Chris of Columbia, KY; Cameron Feese of San Diego, California; Prindle Hinton & husband Mike of Campbellsville, KY
4 Great Grandchildren: Hayden (Sasha) Neal of Denver, Colorado; Hayley Knifley and Harrison Knifley of Columbia, KY; Jackson Hinton of Louisville, KY
1 Great-Great Grandson: 6-year-old Eliot Caldwell of Tennessee
1 sister: Lucille Stotts of Russell Springs, KY
3 nieces, 1 nephew and a host of cousins & friends
 
Due to the Covid-19 virus and in accordance with Governor Beshear’s orders and the CDC, there will be a private celebration of a life service for a life well lived and in service to others on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Roach Cemetery. Pastor Johnny Hood will be officiating. 
 
Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to Summit Manor Nursing Home for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment for staff and can be left at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary funeral Home or mailed to the nursing home at 400 Bomar Heights.
