HERSHEL WAYNE FLOWERS, 87, LOUISVILLE (FORMERLY OF BURKESVILLE)

 

Hershel Wayne Flowers, 87, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Burkesville, KY passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was born November 18, 1932 in Blue Mound, (Macon County) Illinois, the son of Hershel Travis & Montie Lura (Ashinhurst) Flowers. 

 

Hershel was a Christian of the Baptist Faith, a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Brooks, KY, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a retiree from General Electric in Louisville, KY with over 37 years of service, a member of Valley Lodge #411 F. and A.M. in Valley Station, KY, dual membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, Zoneton Chapter # 576 and Burkesville Chapter #380, held many offices in the Eastern Star both Statewide and Local.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Lee (Norris) Flowers who passed away March 4, 1988; 1 Grandson, Simon Woodrow Gosser; 8 siblings: Edith Evans, Julia Ayres, Mary Garner, Louise Hambrick, Alberta Murray, Bill Flowers, Viola Braswell and John Flowers.

Wife: Jaqueline (Clark) Sims Flowers of Louisville, KY
1 daughter: Portia K. Flowers of Burkesville, KY
1 grandson: Samuel Wayne Gosser of Russell Springs, KY
2 great-granddaughters: Samantha Kensley Gosser and Sadie Kayte Gosser
1 sister: Helen Hardin of Burkesville, KY
1 stepson: Tim Sims (Ava) of Louisville, KY
1 stepdaughter: Peggy (Darrell) Stith of Louisville, KY
5 step grandchildren
7 step great-grandchildren

Funeral Service: Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 2:00pmCT in Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home 
 
Burial: Modoc Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY
 
Visitation: After 3:00pmCT on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville
 
The body will be taken to lie in repose at Providence Baptist Church in Brooks, KY from 2:00pm-8:00pmET on Friday, August 23, 2020. 
 
Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to Kosair Charities or St. Judes Childrens Hospital in Wayne’s Memory.
