CHARLES "BUD" SMITH, JR., 73, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

 
Charles B. “Bud” Smith, Jr., 73, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at his home. Born at home in Russell Springs on October 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles Bascum and Afteel Meece Smith.  
 
Bud has cattle farmed all his life. He was from a family of Angus breeders. He was a member of the American Angus Association and the Kentucky Angus Association. Bud was also a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church. He had a great love for God, his family and Angus cattle.
 
Along with his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Gosser Smith; 2 grandchildren: Steven Dick and Sarah Dick; a step-daughter, Lindsey Akers; and a brother-in-law, Limon Harris.
 
SURVIVORS:
Wife: Pam Doss Smith, whom he married in June of 1990
4 children: Henry Bryan Smith (and Melissa) of Russell Springs, KY; Angela Dawn Ragle (and Mike) of Jamestown, KY; Carla Gail Hart (and Clint) of Russell Springs, KY; and Kacie Hood (and Troy) of Scottsville, KY
2 sisters: Charlene Harris and Deborah Popplewell (and Mike), both of Russell Springs
9 grandchildren: Paul Allen Dick (and Kim), Katie Dick (and Tyler), Maggie Hart, Natalie Hart, Bryanna Smith, Blane Smith, Clare Hood, Reece Hood and Morgan Rutledge (and David)
2 great-grandchildren: Kylie Grace Dick and Eli Rutledge
Step-son-in-law: J.T. Akers
 
 
Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 5:00pmCT at Russell Springs First Baptist Church, with Bro. Ryan Coffey officiating.  
 
Burial: Smith Memorial Cemetery
 
Visitation: After 11:00amCT on Tuesday at Russell Springs First Baptist Church
 
Active Pallbearers: Mike Ragle, Clint Hart, Troy Hood, Paul Allen Dick, Ryan Doss, Blane Smith and Kenley Conner.  
 
Honorary Pallbearers: Chuck Grove, Rabon Smith, Keith Jeffries, Tim Dievert, Gary Coffey and the Directors of First Bancorp.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kentucky Angus Foundation, 1220 Angus Trail, Lexington, KY 40509 or to Gideons International.
 
Bernard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
