Ray Hammond, Jr., 71, entered eternal life Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 1, 1950 in Somerset, KY to the late Samuel Ray and Reba Garner Hammond.
Jr., as he was known by his friends and family, devoted his working years to GE in Louisville and Stephen’s Pipe & Steel in Russell Springs. He enjoyed traveling, car auctions, the Stock Market, and was an avid Louisville Cardinal fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Hammond and 2 brothers: Donnie and Michael Hammond.

2 daughters: Tiffany “Nicky” Cheatham & husband Bryan of Columbia, KY; Christy Faith Hammond of Russell Springs, KY
4 grandchildren: Jasmine Humphress & husband Adam, Shelbi Fisher & husband Kaleb, Ty Cheatham, and Ellie Cheatham
3 great-grandsons: Easton Humphress, Luke Fisher, and Jace Fisher
12 siblings: Terry Hammond, Randall Hammond, David Hammond, James Hammond, Ralph Hammond, Bobby Hammond, Floyd Hammond, Shirley Popplewell, Chestlene Popplewell, Peggy Begley, Lisa Lawless, and Patty Hammond

Burial: Russell Springs City Cemetery
Visitation: Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 5:00pm-8:00pmCT and Monday morning after 8:00amCT

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christy Faith Hammond education fund, funeral expenses, or to Gideon Bibles and can be left at the funeral home.
The family request that all attendees for the visitation and funeral service wear a mask or face covering.
