MARSHALL D. POPPLEWELL, 85, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

 
Marshall D. Popplewell, 85, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Fair Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jamestown, KY.  He was born August 7, 1936 in Russell County, a son of the late Henry and Edna McGowan Popplewell. 
 
Marshall was a dock worker at Alligator 1 Marina for 45 years and a cattle farmer. He was a devoted member of Square Oak Separate Baptist Church. Marshall loved his family and enjoyed “picking” on his kids and grandkids. 
 
In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by one sister, Addelien Dunbar. 
 
SURVIVORS:
Wife: Betty Gadberry Popplewell of Russell Springs, KY whom he married April 9, 1955
1 son: Bro. Doug Popplewell (Gail) of Russell Springs, KY
2 daughters: Melody Hadley (David) of Jamestown, KY and Carolyn Goodin (Jerry) of Columbia, KY
6 grandchildren: Bro. David Tucker (Melissa), Laura Popplewell Lacy (Jon), Jill Popplewell, Jason Popplewell (Janal), Daniel Hadley (Brianne), and Noah Hadley (Haley Cook)
7 great-grandchildren: Dylan Tucker, Jalyn Tucker, JonAustin Lacy, Titus Popplewell, Kambree Popplewell, Ben Hadley, and Brody Popplewell
3 brothers: Erthel Popplewell of Russell Springs, KY, J.C. Popplewell (Melinda) of McKenzie, Tennessee, and Clifton Popplewell (Jenny) of Cadiz
2 sisters: Rosie Zimmerman of Norwood, Ohio and Juanita Foley (Steve) of Columbia  
 
Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 1:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Connor, Bro. Mark Polston, and Bro. David Tucker officiating
 
Burial: Square Oak Cemetery
 
Visitation: Monday, December 6, 2021 from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home 
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Square Oak Separate Baptist Church Building Fund. 
 
Pallbearers: Jason Popplewell, Daniel Hadley, Jon Lacy, Dylan Tucker, JonAustin Lacy, and Noah Hadley.
