Joe Norman Coffey, 90, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Russell County Hospital. He was born in Montpelier, KY on March 21, 1931 to the late Holland C. and Zelma Morrison Coffey.
Joe was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a veteran of the U S Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a very active life member of VFW Post 6097 and enjoyed working in his work shop, fishing and gardening.
Joe was a hard-working and loving husband, working as a certified explosive expert, certified pipeline welder, fabricator, supervisor, trainer and crew foreman. After serving 2 years in the U.S. Army, Joe started his career working at H. C. Price Construction company from 1956-1969, Lake Head Pipeline from 1969-1970, Crew Foreman, H. C. Price Construction Company from 1970-1976, J.C. Riggs Company in 1976, owned and operated Coffey’s Welding Shop from 1976-1980 and finished his career at Garrison Construction Company from 1980 until his retirement.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Holt and her husband Orvil and another brother-in-law, Lowell Smith.

Burial: Haven Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 6097
Visitation: After 7:00amCT on Wednesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home
The family request that everyone attending wear a mask or face covering.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Green River Animal Shelter or to Sugar Foot Farm & Rescue and can be left at the funeral home.
