CAROL RICHARDS, 74, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

Carol H. Richards, 74, of Russell Springs, KY died peacefully at the Jean Waddle Care Center Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY on Thursday, March 10, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 7, 1948, a daughter of the late Hollis and Orpha Wooten Hudson of Russell Springs.

Carol grew up in a farming family and was the 3rd of 6 children, all of whom were taught the value of hard work, honesty, family, faith, and community.

After living several years in Indiana as a young adult, Carol moved back to her Russell County and met her future husband, Dwight (Smiley) Richards. Dwight and Carol enjoyed 46 years of devoted marriage and shared their love of the outdoors as well as their commitment to faith and family.

She retired after working 31 years at the Lake Cumberland State Park. Carol loved bringing joy to the many visitors to the park and was considered a hard-worker among her colleagues, many of whom became close, cherished friends over the years.

Carol was devout in her faith throughout her life and was a long-time member of Jamestown First Baptist Church where she happily volunteered her time to the youth program and always greeted the children with a smile and enjoyed cooking for their activities.
