James Ballenger Tarter, 92, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born February 22, 1930 at Wolf Creek, KY (Meade County) to the late Della Dunbar Tarter and C.V. Tarter.
James was a farmer.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Signa Smith, Roger, Eugene, Adelma, and Helen Tarter.

His wife of 67 years: Shirley Temple Roy Tarter of Russell Springs, KY
2 daughters: Barbara Gale Tarter Smith (Wayne Lynch) and Rhonda Kay Shirley Morris, both of Russell Springs, KY
1 son: Ronald G. Tarter (Patty) of Russell Springs, KY
2 grandchildren: Jason (Dolly), Brian Shirley (Amy)
4 great-grandchildren: Chris Smith, Joshua Smith, Justin Shirley (& fiancé Natalie Rogers), and Chasity Shirley

Interment: Coffey’s Chapel Community Church Cemetery in Eli, KY
