Velma F. Rooks, 94 of Taylorsville, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor in Hope, Indiana. She was born May 11, 1928 in Columbia, KY, the daughter of Reverend C.G. Green and Mary Ella (Blaydes) Green.
Velma was a former member of Freedom Baptist Church in Columbia, KY for 14 years. She was currently a 64-year member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher. Velma enjoyed time with her family, attending church, reading her Bible, walks, and was a wonderful seamstress.
Velma married James Raymond Rooks on December 23, 1944 and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Wagner; 3 brothers: David Green, Paul Green, and Joseph Green; and 4 sisters: Rachel McGaha, Annie Acree, Myrtie Green, and Flossie Campbell.

9 grandchildren: Amy Thayer, Audrey (Phil) Westerfield, Ben (Michelle) Rooks, Adam (Jennifer) Rooks, Jill (Todd) Adams, Jayna (Brad) Brooks, Matthew (Sarah) Simmons, Beth (Cameron) McKinney, and Chris (Tammy) Morgan

Funeral Service: Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:00pmET at the Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church with Reverends Mark Polston, Danny Bailey, and Ken Green officiating
Visitation: Saturday from 11:00am-1:00pmET
Burial: Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh
