PATTY JOHNSON, 84, HILLSBORO, IN (FORMERLY OF RUSSELL COUNTY, KY)


Patty Johnson, 84, of Hillsboro, Indiana (formerly of Russell Springs, KY) died Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Attica, Indiana. She was born in Cumberland County, KY on December 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Edwin Cook and Bessie (Orton) Cook. 
 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Thurman; a stillborn son, Van Johnson, Jr.; and her husband, Van Johnson.

 

SURVIVORS:

1 son: Gary (Joanie) Johnson of Veedersburg, Indiana

1 daughter: Judy (Matt) Ross of DeMossville, KY

2 grandchildren: Abby (Brian) Harshburger of Hillsboro, Indiana and Stephen (Leanne) Johnson of Lafayette, Indiana

2 step-grandchildren: Monica Ross of Foster, KY and Eric Ross of DeMossville, KY

5 great-grandchildren: Julia Harshburger, Jacob Harshburger, Josie Harshbarger, Libby Johnson and Gwyn Johnson all of Indiana

2 sisters: Mary Smith of Bowling Green, KY and Jenny Messer of Louisville, KY

1 brother: Ronnie (Mary) Cook of Albany, KY

Brother-in-law: Jerome (Carmon) Johnson of Copperopolis, California

Sister-in-law: Nell Lloyd of Illinois

Several nieces & nephews

 

Patty was a homemaker in Louisville, Kentucky.  She and Van later lived in Russell Springs, Kentucky for over 20 years, then moved to Hillsboro, Indiana in 2017. Patty loved children and worked with them in all the churches they attended.

 

She was known by her family as the storyteller to her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was known for her servant’s heart and her love for her Lord. She read through the Bible numerous times in her life, reading seven chapters each day, every day.

 

She was a member of the South Jefferson Christian Church in Louisville, the Russell Springs Christian Church in Russell Springs, and Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg, Indiana.

 

Visitation: Friday, September 16, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs, on 

 

Graveside Service: Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00amCT at Reeder Cemetery with Carroll Egnew officiating. Funeral procession to Reeder Cemetery will depart from Bernard Funeral Home at 9:15amCT.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reeder Family Cemetery Fund, c/o Jan Centers, 3606 Clubhouse Road, Somerset, KY 42501.
