Carla Lea Gadberry Thomas, 59, of Russell Springs, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, in Somerset. Born January 12, 1964, in Decatur, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Janet Hopper Gadberry.
Carla worked for over 20 years at Fruit of the Loom and had most recently worked as a cook for the Russell County Board of Education for over 12 years. She loved the Kentucky Derby and the lake. Carla’s grandchildren were her world.

1 daughter: Stacy (Jeremy) Hopper of Russell Springs
2 brothers: Gregory (Linda) Gadberry of Somerset and Michael Gadberry of Russell Springs
2 sisters: Lisa (Neil) Collins of Russell Springs and Tamie (Jason) Guffey of Kings Mountain
2 grandchildren: Madison Hopper & Adalyn Hopper (& one grandchild on the way, Carly Hopper)
In addition to her parents, Carla was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Kiser.
Funeral service: 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating
Burial: Salem Cemetery
Visitation: After 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at Bernard Funeral Home
Pallbearers: Jason Guffey, Camron Guffey, Neil Collins, Chandler Collins, Travis Burns, Jared Burns, Jeremy Hopper and Jerry Thomas.
