Johnie Marion Maxey, Sr., 67, Columbia, KY

 
Johnie Marion Maxey, Sr., 67, of Columbia, KY, the son of the late Harold William Maxey and Barbara Ann Haynes Maxey, was born November 19, 1955 in Lexington, KY and departed this life on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at his residence.
 
Johnie had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard. Johnie was a retired truck driver having worked at Cox Interior for 24 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jessamine County and loved to fish, hunt, cut wood, and go to Keeneland.
 
SURVIVORS:
His wife: Sandy Maxey (having united in marriage on December 27, 2002)
1 son: Johnie Maxey Jr. & wife Mindy of Lexington
2 step-sons: Glen Sparks II & companion Alanna Cannon, and Christopher Sparks
1 brother: Jimmy Maxey & wife Sue of Columbia
1 sister: Diane Stinnett & husband Stanley of Columbia
4 grandchildren: Jonathon Sparks, Hunter Demshar-Maxey, Haylee Maxey, and Colin Sparks
His Mother-in-law: Sallie Cook of Knifley
Brother-in-law: Bill Cook of Knifley
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Maxey.
 
The family chose cremation and all services will be private.
 
Memorials are suggested to be donations to the American Cancer Society.
 
L.R. Petty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
