Mavis Marlene Cooper, 85, Russell County, KY

Mavis Marlene Cooper, 85, of the Damron Creek community of Russell County, KY passed from this life on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at her home. She was born November 23, 1937 on Damron Creek, a daughter of the late Alpha B. and Edna P. Hammonds Roy.

Ms. Mavis spent many years working in different garment factories in the Russell County area. She was a “jill-of-all-trades”; she could build cabinets, run water lines and tackle electrical projects. Ms. Mavis loved going fishing and her Thursday nights out with family, with a different restaurant to try every week. She made sure hers was a close-knit family.
