Jimmie Rose Elliott Garrett, 90, passed away August 9, 2023 at her home in Columbia, KY. She was born in Corbin, KY on June 19, 1933 to her parents, Charles Elliott and Mary Elizabeth Powell Elliott.
After her mother’s passing from her birth, she was raised by her aunts Rhoda Elliott and Rachel Miller. Jimmie Rose was raised and baptized into Christ at the First Baptist Church of Corbin, where she sang in the choir and played piano. Jimmie Rose valued education, she was a graduate of Corbin High School and Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing class of 1955. As a registered nurse, she spent her life taking care of others. In 1974, Jimmie Rose and her family moved to Columbia. After being invited by Pastor Doug Moseley, they became members of Trinity Church. At that time, she became the nursing director of Summit Manor Nursing Home. She also worked for the health department and was a state nursing home auditor until after 40 years of nursing she retired. Jimmie Rose enjoyed her morning coffee and winters in Florida. She was an avid reader, loved the color pink, playing the piano, flowers (especially roses), the lake, camping, and her pets. Jimmie Rose treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment spent with her family.
Jimmie Rose was a beautiful lady inside and out. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three siblings: Thomas Elliott, Christine Elliott Gibbs and Phyllis Elliott Trammel.

Jimmie Rose chose cremation and her family will hold a private celebration of life at Green River Lake.
