Obituaries

Mary Lois Emerson, 93, Russell Springs, KY


Mary Lois Emerson, 93, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Russell County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Olga Swanson Bradley. 

 

She was a homemaker and a former childcare provider. Lois or “Nanny”, as she was known to many, professed her faith in Christ Jesus at an early age and was a faithful member of the Russell Springs First Baptist Church, as long as her health allowed. 
 

As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan G. Emerson, whom she married on October 6, 1950; her infant grandson, Adam Vinson Rexroat;  her sister, Emogene Calhoun; her sister-in-law, Darlene Bradley; and her great-nephew, Erik Brandon Emerson.

 

SURVIVORS:

3 children: Gary Emerson, Rick Emerson and Kathy (Vic) Rexroat, all of Russell Springs

4 grandchildren: Joel Emerson, Jackie Emerson- (Tyler) Cochran, Alex (Mandi) Rexroat and Andrew (Katy) Rexroat, all of Russell County

4 great-grandchildren: Jackson Emerson, Adeline Rexroat, Adam Rexroat and Bryant Rexroat

3 siblings: Jimmy Bradley of Westchester, Ohio, Jerrold (Jeanine) Bradley of Lakeland, Florida, and Janis (Gary) Phelps of Somerset

Sister-in-law: Eldene Emerson of Russell Springs

A host of nieces & nephews

 

Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 2:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs with Bro. Christian Naylor and Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating 


Visitation: After 9:00amCT on Tuesday

 

Burial: Union Cemetery


Pallbearers: Joel Emerson, Alex Rexroat, Andrew Rexroat, Jackson Emerson, Tyler Cochran, Jerry Bradley and Greg Redmon

 

Special music: Dean & Sheila McKinley and Robin Riddle.

 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made to Gideons International, Hospice of Lake Cumberland or to the Union Cemetery Fund.
