Ruth Joan Hopkins, 87, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY. She was born September 23, 1936 in the Salem community of Russell County, a daughter of the late Lewis and Alpha Smith Hammond.
Ms. Ruth was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown. She was an accomplished bowler, finishing 3rd in a professional bowling tournament in Reno, Nevada. Ms. Ruth loved music of all kinds and enjoyed singing karaoke. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

2 daughters: Joan George and Jean Waddell, both of Russell Springs
1 sister: Betty Stephens
5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, & 6 great-great-grandchildren
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hopkins; her twin sister, Ruby Cooper; and two brothers: Robert Hammond and Joseph Hammond.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Special music will be provided by Bro. Glen & Sister Willadean Richardson
Interment: Salem Cemetery
Visitation: After 10:00amCT on Saturday
