Bessie Catharine Jackson Dix, 80, of Jamestown, KY passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at her granddaughter’s home. She was born February 2, 1943 in Sparks, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Charles Benthal and Mary Ellen Hogan Jackson.
Bessie was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was also a former cook at the Russell County Jail. Bessie was the type of person that turned into a “Grandma” to everyone she met. She was loved immensely and will be missed by all her family.

5 daughters: Deborah (Michael) Mangan of Westminster, Maryland, Karen Gouran (Robert Dalton) of Magnolia, KY, Sandra Dix of Jamestown, Tamera (Mitchell) Pyles and Lara (Michael) Keith of Russell Springs, KY
1 brother: Ronald Jackson of Easley, South Carolina
Numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Dix, Sr., who passed away October 20, 2010; a son, Thomas Michael Dix; and four brothers: Lawrence Jackson, Stephen Jackson, James Leroy Jackson, and Kenneth Jackson.
