David Joseph Abell, 71, of Knifley, KY, the son of the late James E. Abell and Mary Bessie Wethington Abell, was born October 1, 1952 in Taylor County, KY, and departed this life on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Taylor Regional Hospital.
Mr. Abell was of the Catholic Faith and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a lifelong farmer and raised beef cattle and tobacco. He enjoyed quail hunting, trading, spending time with family, helping his neighbors, and was known as a giver.

2 children: Brandy McCubbin (Stan) of Spurlington, and Brett Farmer (Kim) of Columbia
9 grandchildren: Jayden McCubbin, Kenley McCubbin, Callie McCubbin, Chloe McCubbin, Issac Farmer, Luke Farmer, Jacob Farmer, Gabby Farmer, and Logan Parker
2 great-grandchildren: “Baby” Landry David Joseph Shofner and Gracelynn Eads
8 brothers & sisters: Diann Conquest (Dave), Janis Turner, Jessie Abell (Linda), Stanley Abell, Robert Abell (Kay), Abbie Rose (Don), Sally Marple (Freddie), and Paul Abell (Cathy)
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Abell.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00amET at the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Clementsville, KY with Father Jinto Thomas and Father George Otuma officiating
Visitation: Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 9:00am-11:00amET and again from 12:00pm-2:00pmET
Burial: St. Bernard Cemetery
