Harold Daniel Schackow, 85, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at Russell County Hospital. He was born September 29, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Harold and Bernice Rivard Schackow. 
 

Harold was a former machine operator at Tecumseh Products and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, mowing his yard, and tending to a garden. He also enjoyed making hot salsa that no one else was able to eat. Harold will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

3 sons: Harold (Cindy) Schackow and Kenneth Schackow of Russell Springs, and Stephen Daniel of Fortville, Indiana

2 daughters: Tammy Schackow of Jamestown, KY and Renea (Aaron) Back of Bellevue, Ohio

1 brother: Lawrence Schackow of South Haven, Michigan

3 sisters: Bernice Newkirk of Farmers City, Illinois, Suzette (Joe) Compton of Big Rapids, Michigan, and Kathy (John) Birks of Ramona, California

7 grandchildren: Veronica (Seth) Albright, Daniel Schackow, Sarah Baker, Samantha Grider, Cody Schackow, Andrew Back, and Ally Daniel

7 great-grandchildren: Liam Albright, Kyra Ellis, Kenden Grider, Serenity York, Daisalynn Baker, Zander Baker, and Adien Schackow

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Schackow.

Burial: Mill Springs National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Russell County Honor Guard

Visitation: Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pmCT and Monday after 8:00amCT at the funeral home
