Kathy Popplewell, 74, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Danville, KY. She was born on November 27, 1949 in Corbin, KY, the daughter of the late Juanita and Carter Koger, Sr.

Kathy lived most of her life in Somerset, KY and was a graduate of Somerset High School, where she was a Jumperette. She received her degrees in elementary education from Eastern Kentucky University. Kathy taught at Hogue Elementary, Northern Middle School, and Shopville Elementary until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and her beloved dogs.

1 daughter: Jessica Popplewell Bumm (Eric)

1 son: Jared Popplewell (Leslie)

4 grandchildren: Lilly, Kinnett, Sophia, and Presley

1 great-grandchild: Lennon

1 brother: Carter Koger, Jr.

Nieces & nephews: Caroline Koger, Bill Withers, Brian Withers, and Deanna Withers

At the family’s request, a private service and burial will be held in loving memory of Kathy Koger Popplewell.
