Sylvester Harmon, 87, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Bell Haven Nursing Home in Chicago, IL. He was born in Adair County on May 1, 1937 to the late Charlie “Toad” and Clara Opal Burton Harmon.
Sylvester retired from Chicago Metalic where he worked as a machine operator. In his spare time, he loved playing the guitar, raising a garden, fishing, piddling around outside, reading his Bible, and most of all spending time with his family. He will always be remembered by the nieces and nephews as the fun Uncle who liked to pull off our noses in between his fingers and put it back on, he would teach us how to whistle with a blade of grass or cupping their hands, he showed us how he could crack our knuckles with a gentle touch, and we wouldn’t feel a thing. The best part was he would teach us how to do his tricks so we could use them on others.
