Sandra Lynn Shepherd McGowan, 71, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. She was born on July 5, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late William Arvol and Anna Belle Gider Shepherd.
Sandra was an active, long-time member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to play piano and would play at church any time she was asked. Sandra liked singing karaoke and going to thrift stores. She loved to sew and enjoyed making quilts for her family. Sandra was a lady who treated everyone with fairness and would do anything in her power to help any one in need. She was a caring person who always saw the best in others. Sandra was proud of her house and kept it in order; always clean and tidy. She loved her family and friends dearly and was a “mother to everyone” who was blessed to know her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shane McGowan; a daughter, Krystal McGowan; her father-in-law & mother-in-law: Chester & Lela Ashbrook McGowan; one sister, Judy Shepherd McBeath; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie McGowan.
