Irene Voils Pyles, 94, Russell Springs, KY

Irene Voils Pyles, 94, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this earthly life on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Russell County Hospital. She was born February 20, 1930 in Russell County, a daughter of the late Lilburn and Lizzie Stearman Voils.

After graduating high school, Irene became a teacher, eventually obtaining her master’s degree and Rank I certification. In the very early years of her career, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. Russell County was blessed to have her as an educator for over 30 years. Irene was a proud member of the Russell County Hospital Auxiliary Board for 42 years and logged thousands of hours, volunteering her time doing what she enjoyed the most – helping others. She was a life-long member of The Springs Church, a church that her grandparents helped establish many years ago.  Within the church, she was a member of the United Methodist Women group. Again, selflessly volunteering  her time for projects that would help those that were in need. Irene left behind a legacy for her family, church family, and friends… an example of a life lived with a servant’s heart.
