David Shane Rice, 66, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home. He was born November 18, 1958 in Monticello, KY to the late David “Ken” Rice and Margaret “Peggie”Cojocar.
Shane was a man of few words and a man of great honesty and integrity. He enjoyed a quiet farm life and was an avid pilot and UK basketball fan. His life was spent caring for others as a physician in hospital emergency rooms, devoting several years to Russell County Hospital. He claimed to be an expert at removing fish hooks from all parts of the human body.

2 nieces & 2 nephews: Amy Rice, Morgan Sandusky (Kyle), Ben Rice (Julia) and Dustin Harvey (Laura)
2 great-nieces & a great-nephew: Vera Rice, Layla Harvey and Rush Sandusky

Shane was predeceased by his best buddy, Raylan, a chocolate lab who he affectionately called “Ray”.
Shane requested Cremation and the family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
