Ronnie “Preacher” Tucker, 73, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born in Russell County, on March 19, 1951, a son of the late Woodrow and Neetie Isabelle Wilson Tucker.
Preacher was widely known in Russell County; some would say that he was a local celebrity. For 35 years, his voice was well known to Russell Countians as a dee-jay at the WJRS Laker Country radio station. At WJRS, his “Ron Records Tucker” radio show on Wednesday nights was a favorite of many as he fielded requests and took call-ins. Preacher was a calm, peaceful and loving presence to many, who knew no hate or dislike of anyone. He was known for his laugh and his passion for old cars. He could be seen driving around in his 1956 Chevy, which he would say was the nicest car he ever had.
Preacher was the type of person who made everyone around him just a little bit better. Not only did he have a familiar voice, but he was also a familiar face to many as he worked at Key Market and Houchens grocery stores. Preacher was a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Preacher was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Tucker; two brothers-in-law: Kenny Jones and Bill Deaton; a nephew, Troy Tucker; and a niece, Trudy Caudill.
