Liza Louise (Coomer) Murphy, 87, entered the presence of her heavenly father on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born on August 8, 1937 to the late John Roy Coomer and Exie Iona (Parish) Coomer in a small cabin in Chance, Kentucky.
Louise was greeted by 7 older siblings and a few years later, she was joined by her younger brother making their family a total of 8 children.
As a child, she attended Emory Chapel Church of Chance, Kentucky. Throughout her life she always found a church to attend and continued to grow in her faith. Louise loved God and her life reflected his love & patience to everyone she met. She was an extremely kind, and caring woman who expressed her faith in a quiet gentle way.
In 1956, she married Jimmie Marion Murphy of Chance, KY. Their marriage and love for one another continued for 69 years. They had two children: Wallace Rayburn Murphy and Sheila Gay (Murphy) Romain.
In 1959 Louise and Jimmie moved to Chicago, Illinois for work. She primarily worked in a large factory for Miles Laboratory making the famous SOS and TUFFY kitchen cleaning pads. Louise retired from Miles Laboratory after 35 years of full-time service. She was a dedicated employee, but never let work take priority over her family. Raising her two children and providing for them, alongside her husband Jimmie, was always at the forefront of her thoughts.
In her free time, she spent evenings crocheting bedspreads and winter hats. On weekends, she was an avid bowler and won many trophies for her amazing bowling skills. Every holiday she was packing to either take the family camping or on a trip to Columbia, Kentucky to ensure her kids stayed connected to her small-town values.
In 1986, the first of her six grandchildren arrived. At that point Louise’s happiness was beyond measure. She began dedicating many days, weeks, and years ensuring every grandchild knew they were important to her and loved unconditionally.
