Jason Christopher "Cecil" Smith, 50, of Eli, KY passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at UK Healthcare – Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born on January 31, 1975 in Somerset, KY, a son of the late Jeffery Smith and Barbara Smith (who survives).

Jason lived a life filled with adventure, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He cherished his family and found great joy in the time spent with them. His love for them was boundless.

SURVIVORS:

His devoted wife of 16 years: Dolly Kraft Smith

1 son: Christopher Smith

His "like-daughter": Karlee Kelsey

Grandmother: Shirley Tarter

His mother: Barbara Smith

1 brother: Joshua Smith

2 sisters: Becky (and Brian) Tarter & their child, Brooks, and Kimberly (and Arnie) Robertson

He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Smith; his grandfather, James Tarter; his grandparents, Lonzo and Maggie Smith; his cousin, Beverly "Bootie" Smith; and several other uncles, aunts, and cousins who held special places in his heart.

From a young age, Jason developed a deep passion for the open road and proudly fulfilled his childhood dream of driving semis. His love for big rigs went beyond just a career; it was a calling that brought him immense joy and purpose. Outside of his work, Jason found excitement and camaraderie in demolition derbies, where he thrived on the thrill of competition.

Jason was known for his generous spirit and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether family, friends, or even strangers who quickly became friends, Jason’s warmth and selflessness left lasting impressions on everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a hand and bring a smile to those in need.

Jason’s legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and a constant willingness to help others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of the Life of Jason Christopher “Cecil” Smith will be planned for a later date and will be announced at the appointed time.

Bernard Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
