Benny Smith, 62, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. He was born at the Somerset City Hospital on May 24, 1962 to the late Lucille Smith.
Benny was loved by many and he loved more than his big heart could hold. He loved and protected his family fiercely. Benny was known throughout the Russell County School System as “Mr. Benny”, encouraging each and every child he could to “just do their best”. Benny loved to garden and can his own food, fish every chance he could, go hunting with his boys, read Louis L’Amour books and spend time with his family. One of his favorite sayings was “pace yourself”. He will be missed by many as he was one-of-a-kind and unforgettable. Many have called Benny “The Legend”. He was a truly remarkable man.
