Rickey Jay Thompson, 66, of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Columbia, KY on April 9, 1958 to the late Owen Miller and Dora Helen Bennett Thompson.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Janice Kay Appleby and April Bunch.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and retired from the U. S. Army, serving during Desert Storm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trading, talking on his CB radio where he was known as “Gizmo”, and spending time with his family and friends.

3 children: Toby Thompson (Leanna) and Crystal Wright (Michael) both of Columbia, KY and Joni Thompson of Cario, GA
2 stepchildren: Andrew Franklin (Lindsay) of Campbellsville, KY and Kyle Franklin (Maribeth) of Kuttawa, KY
11 grandchildren: William Thompson, Tyler Wright, Alex Wright, Jayla Franklin, McKenna Franklin, Halle Franklin, Anniston Franklin, Maddie Franklin, Hannah Franklin, Sierra Armstrong, and Addison Armstrong
1 great-grandson: Bentley Burton
3 siblings: Tony Thompson (Scotty) of Sparksville, KY, Diana Roy (Nick) of Glensfork, KY and Stacy Corbin of Bowling Green, KY

Funeral Service: Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmie Dale Cox and Bro. Jerremy Bunch officiating
Burial: Loy Cemetery
Visitation: Friday from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue Saturday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
