Roger Lee “Poncho” Shelton, 69, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home. He was born November 5, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Lewis Chester and Nadene Brown Shelton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronnie and Michael Shelton.
Poncho retired from a Steel Mill in Chicago, was a former Tattoo Artist and a farmer.

1 daughter: Nicole Merkle (Joe) of Oak Lawn, Illinois
4 grandchildren: Alec Merkle-Shelton, Aubrey Merkle-Shelton, Addison Merkle-Shelton, Tyler Merkle
2 brothers: Robert Shelton and John Shelton both of Columbia
1 sister: Anita Jurkovic of Chicago, Illinois
His long-time companion: Kathy Kern Rogers of Columbia
Several nieces, nephews, other relative & friends
Visitation: After 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 with a funeral service at 6:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Cremation to follow.
Burial of cremains at a later date in Columbia Cemetery
