Gilbert Ray Clayton, 73, of Jamestown, KY was born on January 27, 1952, a son of the late Eugene and Zilpha Clayton of Louisville, KY. He departed this life on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Gilbert received his early education in a one room schoolhouse which is now Greens Chapel Church dining hall. Afterwards he would go on to technical school. In 1988, he began working as a maintenance mechanic at Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown, KY from where he retired in January 2014.
After retirement, Gilbert began mowing several lawns in the Jamestown community. He took much pride in groundskeeping for Greens Chapel Baptist Church and the Greens Chapel Cemetery. Gilbert accepted Christ into his heart and became a dedicated member of his spiritual home, Greens Chapel Baptist Church.
Gilbert had a great love of sports. He was often torn between rooting for UK and UofL. He had an even greater love of vehicles, owning several cars and trucks in his lifetime. His favorites were his black Chevy Impalas.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons: Deidrick and Tyrone Clayton of Louisville, KY and two brothers: Ernest Clayton of Louisville, KY and Ronald Clayton of Nicholasville, KY.

3 daughters: Shana Williams and Connisha Clayton of Louisville, KY and Shaleesa Clayton of Frankfort, KY
1 son: Lamario Williams of Louisville, KY
3 sisters: Pauline Perkins, Velva Clayton, and Rita Clayton all of Louisville, KY
