Elizabeth D. Parker, 91, of Palm Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Betty (the name she selected for family and friends to use) was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy Dunton of Maine.
Betty always spoke fondly of her parents who were her inspiration for achieving higher education in a difficult era for women to achieve. Betty earned her Bachelor Degree from Husson University in Maine, and her Master of Education Degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Administration and Supervision along with Business Education.
Betty was married to Dr. Albert Phillips for 35 years and was the caregiver to him before his passing. Early in their marriage, they were instrumental in the founding of Palm Beach Atlantic College. During the college's inception, Betty was the Assistant Business Administrator for a year and a half, until she started the college's School of Business for which she served as Chairman of the Business Education Department for its first several years. In addition, Betty was a professor of various business, accounting, economics, management, and secondary education courses.
Later Betty continued to serve the Palm Beach Florida area as a high school principal, teacher, trade school instructor, junior college professor, and as Head of the Business Dept at a technology college.
As a widow, Betty fell in love and married Lamar Parker. They shared similar backgrounds and interests. Lamar's family became Betty's family. Their love for each other was inspirational and they thoroughly enjoyed traveling together for many years until his passing.
Betty was a member of the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach, Florida; Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Seminole Chapter; and Daughters of the American Colonist (DAC).
