Barney Lynn Flanagan, 71, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on October 14, 1954 in Somerset, KY, the son of the late Vanro “Bobby” and Elsie Katena Popplewell Flanagan.
Barney was an US Navy veteran serving from 1972-1975, earning the rank of SN. He retired from the Russell County Board of Education as a school bus driver. Throughout his life, Barney was also a truck driver and a cattle farmer. He enjoyed being around his cattle and being outside in nature. Barney had made a profession of faith in Jesus and was saved. He attended Parksridge Church of God.

4 children: Chris (LaDonna) Flanagan of Russell Springs, Heather (and Josh) Flener of Morgantown, Andrea Flanagan of Tompkinsville, and Heidi Flanagan of Russell Springs
6 grandchildren: Nathan Flanagan, Levi Flener, Kaylee Pruitt, Jameson Pruitt, Jacen Lee, and Katlynn Lee
In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie Kelsey.

Burial: Parksridge Cemetery with full military honors by the DAV Chapter 51 Honor Guard
