Vivian Lawless, 69, of Shelbyville, Indiana (formerly of Russell County) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026. She was born on September 19, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of the late Viola Weddle (Hinkle) and Arnold Hinkle. After a long and difficult illness, Vivian fought with strength and resolve until she was ready to rest. She passed away at home, surrounded by love.
Vivian spent her childhood and early years in Russell Springs. She was a strong-willed woman with a feisty spirit and a determination that defined her life. Independent to her core, she met the world on her own terms and was known for her resilience and tenacity. While not one for outward displays of affection, Vivian found ways to show love in her own time and manner, growing softer and more reflective in her later years. She had a fondness for the color purple, the music of Prince, Siamese cats, flowers, Vera Bradley, and Eeyore - small joys that brought her comfort and familiarity. Vivian believed in God and held onto that faith in her own way.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepdad, Earl Weddle and the love of her life, Walter Bell, whose passing 5 years ago left such a deep void in her life. Vivian missed him greatly and carried his memory with her always.
