David Allen Murrell, 61, Nashville, TN (Adair County Native)

 

David Allen Murrell, 61, of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. He was born on October 2, 1964 in Columbia, KY, a son of the late Tommie Bascom and Barbara Jean Bennett Murrell.

 

David lived a life marked by dedication, talent, and a deep love for God, his family, community, and country. His education began at Adair County High School, where he distinguished himself as a proud member of the marching band. He furthered his education at Western Kentucky University, carrying forward his passion for music and community involvement. As a gifted musician, David was the drummer for the band Blackstone Ash, sharing his talents with his community.

 

A dedicated HAM Radio Operator, David nurtured this hobby with enthusiasm, connecting with others and exploring the realms of communication technology. His faith was an integral part of his life; he was a devoted member of the Judson Baptist Church, where he generously contributed his time to assist with the youth group, fostering growth and guidance for younger generations. 

 

SURVIVORS:

1 brother: Greg Murrell & wife Laura Beth of Columbia, KY

Nieces: Emily Cross (Abe) of Columbia, KY, Olivia Sanders (Tyler) of Bowling Green, KY, and Anna Buckman (Thomas) of Columbia, KY

Great nieces & nephews: Deacon, Delaney and Warner Cross, Caroline and Charlotte Sanders, and Everette Anne Buckman

Several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and other relatives

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a great-niece, Drew Elizabeth Cross.

 

David’s legacy of kindness, musical passion, patriotism, and devotion to his family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

 

Funeral Service: Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY with Pastor Jack Oliver officiating

 

Burial: Haven Hill Cemetery

 

Visitation: Thursday after 9:30amCT at the funeral home

 

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
