David Keith McDonald, 67, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at Russell County Hospital. He was born November 21, 1958 at Dr. Charles Peck’s office in Russell Springs, a son of the late Avery and Ora Weir McDonald.
David was a former member of the Army National Guard. He worked for many years in construction, remodeling homes, and was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom, Inc. He also enjoyed working on his farm. At the time of his passing, his “joy job” was driving a school bus for the Russell County Board of Education and he had already spoken of looking forward to the upcoming start of the school year. David was a current attendee of 3Trees Church.

4 sisters: Roxie MacDonald and Fay Thomas of Windsor, Sandra Kiesier of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, and Ann Chrusciel of Georgetown
Sister-in-law: Anna Lois McDonald of Russell Springs
A host of nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James McDonald; and two sisters: Ruby Morris and Imogene Callaghan.
Funeral Service: Monday, August 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Ryan Trammell officiating
Visitation: After 10:30 AM on Monday
Cremation rites will be honored according to his family’s wishes.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to God’s Food Pantry or the Russell County 4-H Program. These can be left at the funeral home.
