Jimmy Ray Nelson, 70, of Shepherdsville, KY and formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1956 in Argo, Illinois to the late Arnold Ray and Flossie Maglene Baker Nelson.

Mr. Nelson lived a life centered on hard work and the people he loved. He worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected his dedication and steady spirit. Outside of work, Jimmy found joy in fishing and in spending time with his family and friends. Those simple and meaningful pleasures were an important part of his life and will remain among the memories cherished by those who knew him.

3 grandchildren: Victoria Thiery Wurzelbacher (Samuel), Brianna Thiery Maraman (Corey) and Douglas Austin Thiery

3 great-grandchildren: Charlotte Wurzelbacher, Scarlett Wurzelbacher and Natalie Maraman

1 brother: Greg Nelson (Wendy)

1 sister: Lisa Nelson Fisher (David)

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Carlson Nelson.
