Jackie Davis Stinson, 86, of the Portland community of Adair County died Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at his home. He was born February 1, 1940 in Adair County to the late Will and Gracie Compton Stinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Stinson and one sister, Opal Stone.
Jackie attended Pickett’s Chapel Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran, and retired from Gates Rubber in Elizabethtown after 36 years of employment.

His wife of nearly 59 years: Dorothy Burris Stinson of Portland
1 son: Ronald Stinson (Bridget) of Cane Valley
1 daughter: Melinda Willis (Leslie) of Portland
2 sisters: Frances Janes of Milltown and Elizabeth Curry of Elizabethtown
5 grandchildren: Dustin Willis, Shaun Willis, Nathaniel Grant (Amber), Bonnie Hauesdorfer (Zach), and Tasha Lane (A.J.)
6 great-grandchildren: Aubrey Willis, Zoey Grant, Alex Grant, Dixon Cary, Aiden Hausedorfer, and Hadlee Hauesdorfer
Special grandchildren: Scott, Tiffany and Rue, Samantha and Cody
7 nephews & one special niece
Funeral Service: Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Coffey and Bro. Pat Smith officiating
Burial: Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery with full military honors presented by V.F.W. Post 6097
Visitation: After 4:00 P.M. Saturday
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery Fund which can be left at the funeral home.
