Forces Beyond Farm Families Control: Hardship Proofing Your Farm

*Recommended for CAIP Education Requirement*

Weather, volatile markets, and health events all pose threats to the family farm. Over the past year, we have witnessed many of our neighboring counties experience severe impacts from drought, flooding, and tornadoes. Farmers also face unpredictable markets and fluctuating input costs. In addition, the success of every family farm depends on the health and well-being of those who operate it. While we may not be able to predict or prevent every challenge, we can prepare our families and farms for the risks we know exist.

Join us for a one-hour overview and discussion on developing plans to help your farm navigate disasters, unfavorable market conditions, and unexpected health events. Having a plan in place can help your family farm endure whatever challenges arise and could make a difference in keeping the farm for future generations.

The program will be offered on the following dates at the Adair County Extension Office. Participants only need to attend one session.

  • September 15th at 5:00 pm
  • September 16th at 10:00 am
  • September 18th at 12:00 noon?

2026 Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Campaign Kick-Off 9/12

The Green River area team will kick-off the 2026 Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign with a project leader workshop on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Ransdell Chapel at Campbellsville University, 401 Hoskins Drive, Campbellsville, KY.The workshop will take place from 5–7pmCT (or 6–8pmET). The Green River area team consists of Adair, Casey, Green, Hart, Metcalfe and Taylor counties. Everyone is invited to attend this event.

Come and hear the story about how Devan Rachae’s fabric-covered shoebox full of items interrupted the life of poverty he knew in Grenada at age 12. As one of four siblings with a single mother, Devon experienced God's love through the gift in a way that led him to accept Jesus Christ and become involved in children's ministry. As his church served their community, Devon became a household name on the island, paving the way for him to become the parliament's youngest senator at age

22.

God later led him specifically to "seek first the kingdom of God" (Matthew 6:33) by giving up his government role, and today he serves as a pastor of two churches. Over the years, Devon has held several international roles with Operation Christmas Child, including his current role as Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean and Pacific Islands.
