Karen Denise Travis Eaddy, 64, Adair County, KY


Karen Denise Travis Eaddy, 64, of Adair County, KY passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 2:40pm in Jewish Hospital in Louisville after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 11, 1960, a daughter of the late Phyllis Travis who died in 2013.

Katen was formerly employed at Bennett Insurance Group in Columbia.

 

SURVIVORS:

Her long-time boyfriend (of 16 years): John J. Pogozelski of Adair County as well as many friends.

Cremation was chosen, and no services are planned at this time.

 

Everett Wayne Miles, 87, Knifley, KY

 

Everett Wayne Miles, 87, of Knifley, KY, son of the late Fredrick and Mary (Fellows) Miles, was born April 6, 1937 in Montezuma, Indiana and departed this life on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Stanford, KY at the Stanford Crossing Nursing and Rehab. 


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mildred (Williams) Miles on May 16, 2020; and a son, Michael Wayne Miles.


Everett was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Caterpillar as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working on small engines.

Thomas Lynn Wooldridge, 80, of Waverly, VA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 18, 2025.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dianna Wooldridge; his parents, Frank Albert and Callie Mae Wooldridge; and three brothers: John Neal Wooldridge, Alfred Lee Wooldridge and Baby Larry Wooldridge.
 
Thomas grew up in Russell Springs, KY. He served in the United States Navy, and later became a successful entrepreneur. He loved fostering and helping children, he called all of them his children. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his family. Thomas was dedicated to helping others in his family and in his community.

Nancy Thomas, 77, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at her residence. She was born on May 19, 1947 in Casey County, KY, the daughter of the late Oma Yaden Richardson and Ernest McKinley Richardson.
 
Nancy was a former employee of Liberty Sportswear in Liberty and attended Rich Hill Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her youngest grandson, Kolbi.

Lleslie Lynne Wilson, 58, of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, KY. She was born in Columbia, KY on October 24, 1966 to Bobby Wilson and Barbara Fudge Rinke. 
 
Ms. Wilson was a member of Asbury Church and a 1984 graduate of Adair County High School and later graduated from Lindsey Wilson College. Lleslie valued relationships above anything else and created various family units in all aspects of life: biological family, church family, work family, friend family and on and on. Lleslie’s faith in God and her dedication to her home church family at Asbury and serving on multiple committees and capacities was a huge part of her life. She especially loved traveling to the beach and all over the country. She was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan and one of the sweetest angels to ever walk the earth. Lleslie touched so many lives with her heart and smile. She fought for years with unwavering grace, faith, positivity, and dignity. Every battle she faced she would say God is using me to give my testimony for others going through a cancer battle. To know Lleslie was to love her.

Bill Priddy, Jr., 82, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born in Louisville, KY on September 18, 1942, a son of the late William D. and Shirley Edith Morgan Priddy, Sr.
 

Bill was the owner and operator of Priddy Cars and a member and former Sunday School Superintendent of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Stanford. He was an avid car lover and a member of the Mustang Ponies Shrine Club in Elizabethtown. Bill also enjoyed listening to music and loved his dogs.

Shelby Jean Bennett Moore, 88, of Greensburg, KY, a daughter of the late Samuel Newton Bennett and Rhoda Lena Hunt Bennett, was born on January 3, 1937 in Taylor County and departed this life on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. 

 

Mrs. Moore had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Separate Baptist Church. She had her own in-home childcare service which she did for many years. Her favorite place to be, other than at home with her family, was at the Smokey Mountains.

 

She was united in marriage to William C. “Bill” Moore on June 15, 1957 who preceded her on death on May 3, 2011.

Helen C. York, 88, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at her residence. She was born on July 9, 1936 in Bliss, KY, a daughter of the late Mary Hughes Claycomb and Herbert Ray Claycomb.
 
Mrs. York was dedicated to working for the Lord. She was very involved in church activities at Columbia Church of Christ and never missed an opportunity to go to services. She loved her church family and always tried to live as God would want her to. She was a registered nurse for 40 years graduating from Berea College School of Nursing in 1958 and worked at the hospital and nursing home in Columbia until her retirement in 1998.
 
While at Berea she met her husband, Vernon, and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary before his passing in 2021. She was a caring and compassionate person who loved everyone and was loved by everyone who knew her. The most important  thing to her was pleasing God and doing His will.

Joseph Allen Pepperkorn “Boger”, 52, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025. He was born on January 9, 1973 to Sharron (Richard) Boger.
 

Joe’s greatest joy came with the birth of his son, Aaron Pepperkorn, on October 3, 1998.

 

Joe proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a crew chief, dedicating himself to the safety and readiness of his fellow service members. His career spanned the globe, reflecting his unwavering commitment to duty and excellence.

 

A true motorcycle enthusiast, Joe found freedom on two wheels, embracing the thrill of the ride and the camaraderie of fellow riders. He also cherished bowling nights, where laughter and friendship mattered more than strikes and spares. His adventurous spirit led him across the world, but nowhere felt more like home than Lake Cumberland, where he spent countless days fishing, boating, and making treasured memories.

 

Above all, Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for family and friends. A friend to many and a stranger to none, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.

Glen Dale Burton, 78, passed away on February 17, 2025 at TJ Health Columbia in Columbia, KY. Born on January 14, 1947 in Kentucky, Glen was the beloved son of the late Elic and Lura Grant Burton of Adair County, KY.

 

Mr. Burton was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, watching old westerns and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Burton dedicated many years of his life working at a sawmill before becoming disabled. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature and the love he had for his family.

Pauline Beard Rodgers, 98, of the Portland community of Adair County, KY died Monday, February 17, 2025 at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton with her family by her side. She was born August 3, 1926 in Green County to the late Charlie Francis and Annie Mable Beard.

 

She married Lawrence Nell Rodgers on December 22, 1949 in Ringgold, Georgia and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1989. 

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Gaynell Lee Rodgers on July 29, 2013 and the following siblings: Mary Frances Napier, Lorine Edwards, Glenn Beard and Gaynell Beard in infancy.

 

Pauline was a member of Tarter’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was Treasurer for Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery for over 40 years. She cleaned houses in the area and was a housewife.

Cebert Ewing Sherrill, affectionately known as “CB", 73, was born November 25, 1951 & departed this life on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He lived in Louisville & was formerly from Knifley, KY.

 

CB served his country honorably in the Army for 2 years & the National Guard for 29 plus years. He was a retired employee of GE after 39 years of service & served as a Union Steward. He professed faith in Christ & was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he sang in the choir with Mary Alice. CB enjoyed spending time with his 2 grandchildren, family & friends and he loved being on his farm, camping, boating & spending the winter in Florida with his wife Mary Alice.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford & Eula Dixon Sherrill; 2 brothers: Kenny Sherrill & Bennie Sherrill; & one sister, Carolyn Sue Giles.

Charles G. Robertson, 85, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Russell County Hospital. He was born on June 17, 1939 in the Font Hill community of Russell County, KY, a son of the late Ica Luttrell Robertson and Ollis Robertson.
 
Charles was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving from January 26, 1962 until January 23, 1970. He was a farmer and member of New Friendship United Baptist Church. He loved his family, the family farm at Font Hill, Angus cattle and Quarter horses.

Percy served as a fireman in the United States Navy and was a truck driver after leaving the Navy. Percy never met a stranger and was known by many as “Uncle Percy” for always being willing to help anyone in need. He always made his own path in life, had countless skills, and even more hobbies.

Barbara Modine Hall, 91, of Russell Springs, KY was surrounded by her family when she passed from this life on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Russell County Hospital. She was born February 3, 1934 at home in the Font Hill community, a daughter of the late James William and Luona Roy Withers.  
 
Modine married Walter Theodore Hall on April 5, 1969 and they had celebrated 23 years of marriage at the time of his passing. Modine was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She loved her family and extended family, being considered a “Grandma” to many.  Modine loved to play card games, loved breakfast food and coffee, and looked forward to meeting up Thursday nights with her dinner group.

Juanita S. (Janes) Underhill, 90, of Shepherdsville, KY returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born January 23, 1935 to the union of Hobson and Mabel Tabor Janes in Columbia, KY.

 

She was a member of over 30 years at South Jefferson Christian Church and for more than 30 plus years at Medora Christian Church in Louisville and a Ladies Auxiliary member at the V.F.W. Juanita was a homemaker all her life, a job she loved. She also worked for a short time at Bethany United Methodist Church in the childcare department.


In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of over 30 years, Billy J. Smith; a great-grandson, Benjamin Smith; one stepson, David Underhill; and siblings: Bernard, Lois, Patricia and Linda.

Roberna Marie “Wootsie”  Potts (Rogers), 81, of Louisville, KY and Adair County, KY passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the hospital. She was surrounded by love and care in her final moments. Born on December 6, 1943, Roberna was the daughter of the late Homer Bragg and Terra “Wilma” Bragg.
 

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, York Potts, and her sister, Vonda Rowe.

 

Roberna retired from JC Penny and went on to work for Anthem BCBS, and then the U.S. Census Bureau. Roberna, affectionately known as Wootsie, was a guiding light to her family, dedicating her life to nurturing and raising her many nieces and nephews. She was a source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love, shaping the lives of those she cared for with kindness and grace. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness.

 

She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, brothers, stepdaughter, as well as countless extended family members and friends who were touched by her generosity and spirit. Her love lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Earline (Loy) Hill, 86, of Riceville, TN entered the presence of her heavenly father on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She was born on August 25, 1938 in Adair County, KY, one of eight children to the late Gilliam & Liza Alice (Bragg) Loy.

 

Earline was a native of Adair County, KY but lived in both Bridgeview, IL and Goose Creek, SC before settling in Riceville, TN. She loved to quilt and to garden. She loved God, her family, and the opportunity to travel. She brought the most delicious meals and desserts to every reunion and always shared the recipes. She was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church in Athens, TN.

Janet Caldwell, 97, Columbia, KY

 
Janet Caldwell, 97, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, February 2, 2025 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was born November 11, 1927 in Hershey, Pennsylvania to the late Raymond E. and Mary Snyder Miller.  
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Graves (Bobby) Caldwell in 2021; a grandson, Robert Christopher Caldwell; and her brother, Glenn Miller.
 
Janet graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania in 1949 and soon after graduation she came to work at Lindsey Wilson Jr. College in the Music Department.  On July 7, 1950 she married Bobby Caldwell and made Columbia her home. For a short time, she taught in the Adair County School System. Janet was well known for her musical talent, whether singing solos, playing the organ at Columbia Baptist Church for 50 years, giving piano lessons or playing for numerous weddings and funerals. She and Bobby joined the Columbia Christian Church in 2011.
 
SURVIVORS:
2 sons & daughters-in-law: Bobby & Karen Caldwell and Billy & Phyllis Caldwell, both of Columbia
4 grandchildren: Matt Caldwell (Paula), Bradley Caldwell (Holly), Stephen Caldwell (Karen) and Jennifer Caldwell
7 great-grandchildren: Brianna Paige, Emma Joy, Jacob Isaac, Eleanor Kathryn, Jonathan Stephen, Will McWhorter, and Maeve Elizabeth
Special Caregivers: Cindy Lee, Alma Loy, Marie Lemmon, Lana Burris, and JoAnn Caldwell
 
Funeral Service: Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. John Davis officiating
 
Burial: Columbia Cemetery
 
Visitation: After 11:00 A.M. Saturday
 
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Columbia Christian Church Benevolence Team, WHAS Crusade for Children, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. These can be left at the funeral home.

Zella Mae Lewis Monroe, 76, Columbia, KY

 
Zella Marie Lewis Monroe, 76, of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her residence. She was born on August 4, 1948 in Banner, KY to the late Bascom and Minnie Mae Lewis. 
 
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Kenneth Monroe, Jr. and two siblings: Leona and William Reo Lewis.
 
Mrs. Monroe was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church and a former teacher for Anderson County Schools. She was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
 
SURVIVORS: 
3 children: Amy Monroe (Randy Curry) and Mary Beth Monroe both of Columbia, KY; Harold Kenneth Monroe III (Nickie) of Lawrenceburg, KY
2 grandchildren: Russell Lewis Curry and Katie Monroe
6 siblings: Albert Lewis of Columbia, KY, Larry Lewis (Nancy), Charles Lewis (Nancy), Joe Lewis, and Patricia Ratliff (Bob) all of West Liberty, KY and Alice Robinson (Mike) of Hazel Green, KY 
Several nieces & nephews including a special niece, Tasha Reuter & 2 special nephews: Brent Ratliff and Zion Walton
 
Graveside Service: Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 12:00pmET at the Sand Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, KY with Bro. Garrett Franklin officiating

Jeffrey G. Sparks, 72, Columbia, KY


Jeffrey G. Sparks, 72, of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born in Columbia, KY on March 28, 1952 to the late W.A. and Claristine Richard Sparks.

 

Mr. Sparks attended the Cane Valley Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a farmer and former employee of Summit Manor Nursing Home and an advocate for pet rescue with the Adair County Animal Shelter. He enjoyed watching wrestling, tinkering in his shop and spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Willow.

1 daughter: Tabetha Sparks of Morristown, TN

1 granddaughter: Willow Sparks

1 sister: Sue Sparks of Campbellsville, KY

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Larry Sparks, and brother/sister-in-law: Chester Taylor and Sharon Parson (Vernon “Bunny”).
