Joseph Cery Fannin (better known as J.C.), 73, of Columbia, KY died Monday, September 28, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1947 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Raymond & Frances Rollings Fannin.

 

Joseph was a Master Plumber and a Veteran of the US Marine Corp.

JOHN NORMAN LAWRENCE III, 48, SPRINGFIELD, KY (RUSSELL CO. NATIVE)

 

John Norman Lawrence III, 48, of Springfield, KY died Monday, September 28, 2020 in Russell Springs, KY. He was the son of the late John Norman Lawrene II and Cynthia Stephens Davis (Steve) of Russell Springs, KY who survives.

 

John was a veteran of the Iraq War serving in the U.S. Army and later in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

Angel May Holt Perkins, 52, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Walter Holt and Louise Blake Holt, was born March 12, 1968 and departed this life on Friday, September 25, 2020 in Campbellsville, KY.

 

Angel professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Journey Church in Campbellsville, KY.  She was a devoted wife and loving sister. Angel loved her family, taking pictures, flowers (especially roses), caring for children, and serving and attending church.

Charles Robert Little, Jr., 75, of Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Jackson, KY on July 11, 1945, a son of the late Charles R. Sr. & Beulah (Johnson) Little.
 
Charles was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a retired supervisor from General Motors.
 
In addtion to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Elijah and Abraham Little; 1 granddaughter, Jocelyn Little and a brother-in-law, Johnny Ratliff.

Trevor Garrick Gosser, 42, of Russell Springs, KY died Friday, September 25, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 29, 1978 in Somerset, KY son of Gary B. & Gail Gosser of Russell Springs.
 
Trevor was a State Agriculture Inspector and a member of Pine Grove Church. He was an avid influential member of the Gosser Ridge Community, avid farmer, boater and Prankster. "Boss Hogg" will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Larry was a painter, loved fishing and an avid University of Kentucky fan.

Sheila Denise Dunbar Price, 61, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at her residence. Born in Cumberland County, KY she was the daughter of the late Kay and Gaynell Upchurch Dunbar.
 
Mrs. Price was a member of the Breeding United Methodist Church.  She was a former employee of Oshkosh in Columbia and later enjoyed working on the farm.

GARY GLENN GOODIN, 71, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Gary Glenn Goodin, 71, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1949 in Taylor County, son of the late Glenn Vilie and Ollie Alice (Roberts) Goodin.

 
Mr. Goodin had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Elkhorn United Methodist Church. He was a former truck driver and an employee of the Boco Station. He had served his community as a Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputy lake patrolman, and served his country honorably in the National Guard. Mr. Goodin loved people and had a naturally helpful heart. He enjoyed keeping his yard neat and in order, and shared many laughs with his family over a plate of frog legs.

 

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Goodin.

LYNN EARL HUDDLESTON, 66, LOUISVILLE, KY (ADAIR CO. NATIVE)

 
Lynn Earl Huddleston, 66, Louisville, KY died Monday, August 24, 2020. He was the son of the late Earl and Frances Walker Huddleston and was born May 29, 1954 in Columbia, KY.
 
Lynn Earl was also preceded in death by 3 aunts: Virginia Huddleston (Albert) VanZant, Frances Huddleston Link and Dimple Huddleston (Foster) Duerr; 4 uncles: Paul, Charles, Walter D. (Jean) and Harold Huddleston; 3 cousins: Joseph and Philip (Margaret) Huddleston and Mary Beth Huddleston Rowe.
 
Lynn Earl was a graduate of Transylvania University and a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He earned his Masters in Education degree at the University of Louisville.  Lynn Earl taught science in the Jefferson County Public Schools for many years. His love of teaching and compassion for the students resulted in awards and appointments, including: serving as an adjunct professor in the U of L Education Department, being elected president of the Kentucky Science Teachers Association, serving as district-wide resource teacher for 88 elementary schools, and winning the Presidential Award for Elementary Science Teaching in Kentucky.
 
He was an active member of the Cathedral of the Assumption, and during his retirement, he volunteered for Hospice, Norton’s Children’s Hospital and the Home of the Innocents. Lynn Earl was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan, enjoyed playing bridge, but most of all, loved to spend time with family and good friends.

Lynn Earl loved and was loved by his large extended Huddleston family which includes: aunts Martha Jane Huddleston, Louise Huddleston and Karla Huddleston; 1st cousins Lee Huddleston, Heidi Huddleston, David (Tammy) VanZant, Russell (Janice) VanZant, Charles A. Huddleston, Brenda Huddleston (Bob) Stith, Steve Huddleston, Phil Dee (Sandy) Huddleston, Linda Duerr Whitaker, Gary Duerr, Keith Duerr, Tom Huddleston, and a host of 2nd and 3rd cousins, all of whom gather each October to celebrate family, an occasion Lynn Earl never missed.
 
As requested by Lynn Earl, cremation was chosen. Due to Covid-19, the funeral service is private.

AUBREY JOHNSON, 93, JAMESTOWN, KY

 
Aubrey Johnson, 93, of Jamestown, KY died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Russell County Hospital. He was born January 20, 1927 in Russell County to the late Okle and Flora Gaskin Johnson.
 
Aubrey was employed by Russell County School District. He held various positions throughout his 31 years of employment. He taught Health & PE and was the basketball coach at Russell County High School, was principal at Jamestown Elementary and was Director of Transportation throughout his career. Aubrey went into cattle farming full time after his retirement. He was also a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

Bill was a faithful member of the Glensfork Nazarene Church where he served as Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Victoria Jayne Leibeck-Owsley, 31, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at her residence. Born in Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of Barbara Deniston of Columbia, KY and Jon Leibeck (Dinah) of Campbellsville, KY.
 
Vicki was a 2012 graduate of Berea College, where she met the love of her life Sean Owsley and she received her master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in December of 2018.  Mrs. Leibeck-Owsley was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Glasgow, KY.  She was an English and AP Language Teacher at Adair County High School and Academic Team Coach for the Adair County Middle School and Assistant Coach for the Adair County High School.  She was also a member of the KEA Teachers Union.
 
Victoria was named a Kentucky Colonel and was inducted into the Kentucky Association of Academic Competition Hall of Fame. She was a Jeopardy Season 35 Teachers Tournament participant and was named the 2020 Teacher of the Year for the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English. She enjoyed writing, reading, music festivals, her cats, being outdoors (especially at the beach) and spending time with her family and friends.

Flora Etta Groves, 90, daughter of the late Tom H. & Louise (Anderson) Groves, was born in Green County, KY on December 10, 1929 and died Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Norton Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY.
 
Flora had made a profession of hope in Christ at an early age and began her Christian walk at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She would later move her membership to the Bethel AME Church. Mrs. Groves enjoyed life, especially when she was able to cook and clean for her family. Her favorite times were family get-togethers, and she loved having reunions at her home. She always kept an open door for those she loved.

Daril Gene Salyers, 55, of Columbia, KY passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at TJ Health Columbia. He was born on April 4, 1965 in Boyle County, KY son of the late Cecil and Edith Davis Salyers. 
 
Daril was a bus driver for Adair County School System. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God. Daril loved the Lord and was a very dedicated Christian. He was highly involved in the church. He lived every day trying his best to talk about Jesus. Daril was the Sunday School teacher at church and was beginning to preach. He dearly cherished his grandsons and his children and loved spending time with his family. Daril was a farmer that was very much involved in the community. Hunting and fishing were two of his favorite hobbies.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Salisbury and a brother, David Salyers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Douglas Biggs; 1 daughter, Gwendolyn Biggs Love; 1 sister, Loda Sandoval; and 3 brothers: John, Curtis and Gary Ellison. 
 
Ms. Biggs was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Dora Lee Kroeger, 57, of Columbia, KY died Monday, September 7, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. She was born March 29, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio a daughter of the late Orville Charles Kroeger and Flora Mae Thompson Frye.

 

Dora enjoyed going to the Ole Homeplace Adult Daycare.

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael McKinley and a brother, Bud Kroeger.

Alvis G. Floyd, 85, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Russell County Hospital. He was born in Adair County, KY, the son of the late Charles Henry & Mattie Ella Rooks Floyd.
 
Mr. Floyd was a member of the Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church and veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, watching sports (especially University of Kentucky basketball), being outdoors riding his 4-wheeler and spending time with his family and friends.

Rebecca Sue Conley Salyer, 79, of Jamestown, KY died Monday, September 7, 2020 at the home of her son.  Sue was born April 4, 1941 in Winn, KY, a daughter of the late Hobert & Carrie (Blanton) Conley. 
 
Sue retired from Fruit of the Loom Manufacturing after many years of service. Following retirement, she began a family owned business with Bill, Tony and Ronda. She became a member of the Oil Springs United Baptist Church on January 22nd, 1957 and married Billy B. Salyer January 1, 1960. She spent the last years of her life at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law who gave her great care. Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all that loved and knew her.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; 1 brother, Marvin Conley; and 1 brother-in-law, Jack Salyer.

SAM TUCKER, 83, KNIFLEY, KY

 

Sam Tucker, 83, the good-natured, fun-loving, oft-proclaimed mayor of Knifley, KY passed from this life on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at his home surrounded his family. He was born in Knifley on July 27, 1937 to the late Oconal and Gussie (Perkins) Tucker.

 

Sam spent the majority of his 83 years, 1 month, and 9 days on this Earth trying to make someone smile, whether they initially agreed to it or not. He was the owner and operator of Tucker’s Grocery, a retiree of General Motors, the owner and operator of a small trucking company, a beloved husband, a cherished father and grandfather, and a friend to many. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Dunbar Hill Community Church. Mr. Tucker - or Sam, as he preferred - was also an accomplished musician, having played many years in the gospel group The Green River Boys, and in Dayton, Ohio with the Knighthawks. He loved traveling the country, playing and listening to music, and spending precious time with those he cherished. His genuine smile, big heart, and small practical jokes will be remembered for generations.

Lynn Earl Huddleston, 66, Louisville, KY earned his holy wings on Monday evening, August 24, 2020. He was the son of the late Earl and Frances Walker Huddleston and was born May 29, 1954, in Columbia, Kentucky.
 
He was also preceded in death by aunts Virginia Huddleston (Albert) VanZant, Frances Huddleston Link and Dimple Huddleston (Foster) Duerr; uncles Paul, Charles, Walter D. (Jean) and Harold Huddleston; cousins Joseph and Philip (Margaret) Huddleston and Mary Beth Huddleston Rowe.

His chosen granddaughter, Chloe Koser; Aunt Mary Helen (Huddleston Miller); cousin & chosen sister, Laura Huddleston (Bill) Snyder and her family, chosen nephew, Will (Laurin) Snyder and chosen niece, Elizabeth (Rachel) Snyder; cousin, friend and caregiver-extraordinaire, Amy E.H. Lynn Earl loved and was loved by his large extended Huddleston family, which includes: aunts Martha Jane Huddleston, Louise Huddleston and Karla Huddleston; first cousins Lee Huddleston, Heidi Huddleston, David (Tammy) VanZant, Russell (Janice) VanZant, Charles A. Huddleston, Brenda Huddleston (Bob) Stith, Steve Huddleston, Phil Dee (Sandy) Huddleston, Linda Duerr Whitaker, Gary Duerr, Keith Duerr, Tom Huddleston, and a host of second and third cousins; all of whom gather each October to celebrate family, an occasion Lynn Earl never missed.
 
Lynn Earl was a graduate of Transylvania University and a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He earned his Masters in Education degree at the University of Louisville.  Lynn Earl taught science in the Jefferson County Public Schools for many years. His love of teaching and compassion for the students resulted in awards and appointments, including: serving as an adjunct professor in the U of L Education Department, being elected president of the Kentucky Science Teachers Association, serving as district-wide resource teacher
for 88 elementary schools, and winning the Presidential Award for Elementary Science Teaching in Kentucky.
 
He was an active member of the Cathedral of the Assumption, and during his retirement, he volunteered for Hospice, Norton’s Children’s Hospital and the Home of the Innocents. Lynn Earl was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan, enjoyed playing bridge, but most of all, loved to spend time with family and good friends. 
 
Donations in his memory are requested to the Cathedral of the Assumption, Home of the Innocents, Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY or to a charity of one’s choice.
 
As requested by Lynn Earl, cremation was chosen. Due to Covid-19, the funeral service is private.

Virginia Evelyn Bernard, 85 of Russell Springs, KY died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 9:35 A.M. at her home. She was a daughter of the late Carma & Gladys Blair.
 
Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Russell Springs.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Webb Bernard; 2 sisters: Martha Holder & Faye Beatty; and 2 brothers: Emmitt Eugene & Ruel Wayne Blair.

1 son: Billy W. Bernard, Jr.
1 sister: Brenda McGowan

4 great-grandchildren
 
Cremation was chosen.

ARLENE GRIDER, 89, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

 
Arlene Grider, 89, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the home of her daughter. She was born July 28, 1931 in Russell Springs, KY daughter of the late Ovis & Audra Antle Holt.
 
Arlene was a retired teacher from the Russell County School System. She began her teaching career in several 1-room schools and spent most of her career teaching 3rd grade at Salem Elementary School.  Arlene was a loving mother who was devoted to her family, friends & faith. She was a charter member of Royville Friendship Church.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Winston Grider and 1 sister, Jeanette Rogers.

MALCOLM DALE CARTER, 64, GEORGIA (FORMERLY OF KY)

 
Malcolm Dale Carter, 64, of Lula, Georgia, a native of Burkesville, KY passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Burkesville, KY to Rebecca Grant Carter Melton & the late Malcom Carter. 
 
Dale retired from Banks County as an Environmental Health Specialist. He was a Deacon at Liberty Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. He loved anything Kentucky Wildcats, but especially Kentucky Basketball. Dale was a true family man and treasured making memories with his wife & family. He was an outdoorsman, loving deer hunting and talking about the hunt.

GEORGE ISON, JR., 98, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

 
George Ison, Jr., 98, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his home. He was born April 14, 1922 in Jenkins, KY to the late Steve & Nanny Ison.
 
Mr. Ison was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Army from Sept 1941 to 1945, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was retired as a powerhouse operator with the U.S. Corp of Engineers at Wolf Creek Dam, was a Mason of 60 years with Jamestown Lodge, and a member of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church.

Wilda Jo Giles, 55, of Knifley, KY died Tuesday, September 2, 2020 at her residence. Born in Louisville, KY she was the daughter of the late Bunie Ray and Wilma Lee Sweet Green.  
 
Wilda enjoyed spending time with her family and dogs, and also enjoyed playing bingo.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Payton.

DANNY BALDWIN SR., 76, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Danny D. Baldwin Sr., 74, of Campbellsville, KY son of the late Delmar Baldwin and Pearl Baldwin, was born December 5, 1945. He departed this life on Friday, August 7th, 2020 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville.   
 
Mr. Baldwin was a devoted evangelist of the gospel and devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He loved playing and singing gospel music with his family and friends, and was known for meticulously detailing his vehicles. He also loved pitching horseshoes and bowling with his friends. Danny was self-employed for many years in insurance sales.

She was a homemaker and attended New Hope Separate Baptist Church.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Redmon.
