Bessie Louise Withers, 75, of Russell Springs, KY passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born October 12, 1945 in Louisville, KY, she was a daughter of the late Mackie and Louise Howard Huddleston.
Bessie was a homemaker and attended Bernard Ridge Church of God. She was a loving mom and grandmother. She was known by everyone as “Granny.”

Bobby Caldwell, 93, of Columbia, KY died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 1, 1927 in Adair County, KY to the late Robert and Rachel Coffey Caldwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Robert Christopher Caldwell; a brother, David Caldwell; and a sister, Jennie Lee Caldwell.
Bobby was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a US Army Veteran, retired from the U.S. Postal Service after nearly 30 years of service and worked at Adair Farmers Service when he finished with his daily mail route. At the age of 18, he “legally” became a firefighter with the Columbia Fire Department and was instrumental in seeing the need for fire protection outside the city limits, so the Adair County Volunteer Fire Department was created in 1954. Bobby served as Chief and President of the county department for many years. At the time of his death, he had served on the fire department for 75 years.

Forest C. Gibson, 92, of Oaklawn, IL passed away on October 31, 2020. Forest was born to Claude and Hannah Gibson on September 23, 1928.
Forest retired from running his own Barber Shop for 30 years. He spent half his time in Ft. Myers Beach, FL and the rest in Illinois. Forest loved his family and friends.

Maxene Bottom Clayton, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 after a short illness. She was born on May 27, 1930 in Russell Springs, KY, one of eight children born to the late Homer and Edith Bottom.
Though she resided in Louisville for 70 years, Russell Springs was still “home”. While she was a hair stylist in her younger years, most of her life was spent as a devoted homemaker. Maxene was a member of Parkland Baptist Church for 70 years.
Maxene was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Elwood Clayton; son-in-law, Bill Renders; mother-in-law, Lora Burton; a brother, Lyman Bottom; and sisters: Olena Akers, Betty Jane Foley and Carolyn Bottom.

He was a retired Industrial Electrician. His work took him to several countries across Europe and Asia where he helped build and maintain power plants. After retiring, Glenn.. well, he simply enjoyed life. Woodworking, fishing, gun and knife collecting, and caring for his dogs were some of his favorite pastimes.

James “J.C.” McFarland, 62, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center, in Somerset. Born on August 19, 1958 in Hammond, Indiana, he was the son of Chesley “Pete” and Lofie Gosser McFarland.
J.C. grew up helping his father build barns. He raised tobacco for many years. J.C. was certified electrician. Throughout his career, he worked at Fruit of the Loom, Superior Battery, and Tantus Tobacco and Stephens Pipe and Steel.
J.C. was a jack of all trades who enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He loved spending time with his family and fishing, especially with his fishing buddy, Arielle. He was a faithful member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church and enjoyed singing and picking the guitar.

Annamae Marie Cruz, 40, of Horse Cave, KY died Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was born on November 8, 1980 to the late Ralph and Cathy Cross Woods.

Terry Lee Goodin, 65, of Columbia, KY passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Russell County Hospital. Born on December 19, 1955 in Somerset, KY, he was the son of the late Elbert and Lois Holt Goodin.
Terry married Kathy McKinley on October 19, 1974. He ministered for 38 years, pastoring churches in Russell, Pulaski, Casey and Adair Counties. He was a member of White’s Chapel Separate Baptist Church. For many years, Terry was the owner and operator of T. Goodin Fertilizer. He was a member of the Hood Masonic Lodge #839. Terry loved riding his Harley Davidson and loved the time spent with his grandchildren.

Jerry L. Jones, 68, of Knifley, KY died Friday, April 9, 2021 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Knifley, KY on July 12, 1952 to the late John R. and Sarah Frances Stapleton Jones
Mr. Jones was a member of the Hovious Mission Church. Along with his son they had Jones Construction and built many homes and other projects in the area. He enjoyed working on old tractors and trucks and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jerri Lynn Jones.

Tommy J. Kinnett, 70, of Jamestown, KY passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home. Born on June 5, 1950 in Somerset, KY, he was a son of the late James Homer “Smokey” and Betty Cooper Kinnett.
Tommy was an US Navy veteran, a retired controller for UTP Materials in Houston, Texas, and owner/operator of a local trailer park. He loved walking his dog, Luna, and traveling across the state visiting flea markets. Tommy enjoyed collecting pictures and framed art and reading. He was a giver and loved his family.

Genevia Harden, 89, of Columbia, KY died Monday, April 5, 2021 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was born May 5, 1931 in Pineville, KY to the late Warren and Eller Markle Thompson.

Mick was a licensed barber, had managed Burton Brothers Service Station for over 20 years, a member of Emory’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he faithfully attended until his recent illness.
