WILLIE KATHRYN SANDUSKY, COLUMBIA

 
Willie Kathryn Sandusky, 88, of Columbia, KY died Friday, May 31, 2019 at her residence. She was born February 4, 1931 in Milltown, KY to the late Caleb & Lovie Leftwich Caldwell. 
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Sandusky on September 21, 2012. 
 
Willie Kathryn was a member of Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always considering her family first in everything she did.  She loved her home and the outdoors.  She was happiest with her family, in her home and working in her yard.
 
She was blessed with her newest best friend, companion and caregiver, Cathy Johnson, for the past three years.  She truly cherished their relationship daily.  As her needs progressed, she was comforted by and thankful for the excellent care and compassion given by Janice Dulworth and Vonda Derman.

David Edward Scales, 60, of Amelia, Ohio (formerly of Russell County) died Sunday, May 26, 2019 in Grundy Center, Iowa. He was born March 17, 1957 in Russell County.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Garland Scales and a brother, Jeffery Garland Scales.

WOODFORD GLEN BOTTOMS, JR., 61, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Woodford Glen Bottoms, Jr, 61,  the son of the late Woodford Glen, Sr and Eula Mae (Hicks) Bottoms, was born Saturday, March 15, 1958 in Taylor County and departed this life on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Campbellsville at his home. 
 
Mr. Bottoms spent many years and traveled many miles driving a truck, but when he had time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker with his friends, but found most joy spending time with his family and friends and his dog Annie and was of the Baptist Faith.
 
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Jason Bottoms.

Jerry Dale Meadows, 62, of Green County, KY, son of Mary Posey Meadows of Metcalfe County and the late Garland Meadows, was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1957 in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a farmer.

Bobby Gene Arms (age 74) and Barbara Ann (Morrison) Arms (age 67), both of the Dutch Creek Community of Cumberland County, KY passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 as the result of an automobile accident. Bobby was born in Cumberland County, KY on Friday, August 25, 1944 the son of Ervin & Ruby (Wright) Arms. Barbara was born in Albany (Clinton County), KY on Tuesday, June 5, 1951 the daughter of James Verner & Madeline (Hill) Morrison. 
 
Bobby and Barbara were united in marriage on Saturday, December 18, 1965. They were of Pentecostal faith, members of Albany Full Gospel Apostolic Church, and employees of Norris-New Funeral Home from 1988 until their passing. 
 
In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Reed Long and Donnie Groce.

Jerry Rector, 63, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.  Born in Adair County, KY, he was the son of the late Sam and Nina Stargel Rector. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his biological parents: Jake and Danford Price Stargel and several siblings: Ora Lee, Tom, Clarence, Dallas, Willie Ray, Betty and Gordon Stargel, Jewell Belton, Linda Kerns, Mary Jane Bryant, J.W. Rector, Susie Goodin and Alta Grider.
 
Mr. Rector was of the Christian faith and a former member of  Adair County Search and Rescue and the Adair County Jaycees.

Mr. Haynes was a long time pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Russell Springs and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He professed faith in Christ and attended the Lighthouse Tabernacle. Bobby was very talented at many things and used those talents in many ways; as an assistant mail carrier, an assistant bus driver, a welder, a marksman and was known for his ability to line up scopes. He enjoyed watching Nascar and was a big Dale Earnhardt fan.
 
He united in marriage to Thelma Jean Parrott November 19, 1966.

He was a son of the late Bobby Gene Milby Sr. and Gracie Whitlow Milby, and was born on February 20, 1959 in Green County.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Lieutenant and E.M.T for the Campbellsville Taylor County E.M.S. for 21 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a former Green County Constable.

Walter Lee Allen, 61, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Lewis Allen and Lucille Martin Allen, was born October 19, 1957, in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 10:15 P.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in Campbellsville.        
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  Lee was a retired employee of the Campbellsville Independent School System. He loved his family, the Lord, music and just people in general.  He played the guitar and sang for family and friends and hobbies also included gardening and being outdoors.  He was a hard worker and enjoyed being with his co-workers, but also enjoyed watching old westerns and Andy Griffith, especially Ernest T. Bass. 
 
He united in marriage to Jenny Harden February 15, 2014.

Jewell “Nanna” Hutchison Smith Sayre, 83, passed away peacefully Monday, May 20, 2019 with her family by her side at Allegro in Elizabethtown, KY.  Born in Adair County, KY she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Hutchison.
 
Mrs. Sayre later moved to Louisville and started her family and made numerous friends.  Jewell retired from Phillip Morris.  She loved all things grown outside (wildflowers), cooking (food pusher), avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, doing laundry, cleaning, playing cards (rook and even running off a few), and bargain shopping.  She was a giving person who helped many; Jewell loved big and leaves behind a lot of memories that will live on with the ones who loved her.
 
In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Maxine McGruder, Ruth Ann Pederson, Ruby Carol Worthington, Christine Hutchison and Sue Scott, and 3 brothers: Bobby, Eddie and Billy Hutchison.

Jean united in marriage to Tommy J. Greene June 13, 1959 and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009.

JUDY DIXSON DRAPER, 70, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Judy Dixon Draper, 70, of Campbellsville, KY was born on May 22, 1948 to Nancy (Humphress) Dixon and the late Wayne Dixon. She was surrounded by her family when she departed this life on Monday, May 13, 2019 at her home. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Draper retired from the Hardin Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse, one of two roles she cared deeply about. The other was her church, and she worked tirelessly to combine the two. She was the founder of The Mission of Hope, a Sunday School teacher, and a board member of the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene. She often served as a medical missionary with Children’s Lifeline, and was instrumental in restructuring the Children’s Lifeline Mission in Haiti in 2012. She would often recant how she managed to ward off starvation amongst many Haitian children by teaching the adults about the benefits of consuming goat’s milk.
 
Her kindhearted and generous spirit wasn’t all spent overseas, though. Here, she was known as a talented member of the Dixon Sisters Vocal Group, and was a loving wife and mother. Her legacy as a woman that always put God first in her life will be fondly remembered for generations.

Mrs. Walker was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, a former employee of Osh Kosh and a homemaker.

SIS. ALICE MCGINNIS, 82, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Sis. Mildred Alice (Coomer) Richardson McGinnis, 82, of Campbellsville, KY entered into rest on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Taylor Regional Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in the Low Gap community of Adair County, KY on July 18, 1936 to the late James Gordon and Mattie Lee (Pierce) Coomer.
 
As a young lady, she met Cecil “Red” Richardson, and they united in marriage in 1953. They would remain a devoted couple until his death in 2003. She would later marry Chuck McGinnis, who survives.
 
Sis. McGinnis retired from the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville, having worked there over 30 years. Her life’s work, however, lay in trying to make heaven her home - and from that calling, she never wavered. She was passionate about her walk with God, and faithfully attended the Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. Her soft, gentle, and continual encouragement to others will be dearly missed.
 
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Cecile Allen, and a sister, Geraldine Coomer McGinnis.

James Herman Patton, 88, of Dunnville, KY passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at his residence. Born on February 5, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Artie Okla and Mary Lela Ellis Patton.

 

Herman was a mechanic. He was an avid bird hunter that also loved to hunt and fish. Herman was baptized at First Baptist Church of Liberty. He bravely served his country in the Korean War.

 

SURVIVORS: Spouse, JoAnne Thomas Patton of Dunnville, whom he was married to for 60 years; 1 sister, Myrna Loy (Perry Dean) Knight of Old Hickory, Tennessee; 1 special great-niece, Mary Grace Branstetter; and a host of nieces & nephews

Mrs. Coomer professed her faith in Christ and was a member of the Egypt Christian Church, the Wings Women’s Group at the church and the Egypt Christian Church Choir.  Faye enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, traveling across America, attending auctions where she always tried to outbid her sisters and most of all playing with her grandsons

Laymon Norris, 80, of Columbia died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his residence. Born in Cumberland County, KY he was the son of the late: Robert Austin and Clara Melton Norris.
 
Laymon worked at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman he loved hunting, fishing, ginseng hunting and dog trading.

THOMAS JAY PRICE, 59 OF LIBERTY

 

Thomas Jay Price age 59, of Liberty, KY passed away on Wednesday May 8th, 2019 at the Jean Waddle Care Center. Born September 26th, 1959 in Liberty, KY Jay was the son of the late James “Jug” Price and Daisy Cain (Lloyd) Short.

 

Jay graduated from Casey County High School in 1977. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and a Master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University. He was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. He served as a vocational agriculture teacher and the FFA advisor at Casey County High School for 27 years. He touched many lives over the years and was a mentor to many of his former students. He was involved in several county and state organizations where he had a role in developing educational programs for Casey County Farmers. He had a true passion for teaching and farming. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, popa, brother and friend.

 

Jay is also survived by his wife whom he wed on July 5, 1980, Carol McAninch Price, two daughters: Lauren (Brian) Johnson and Lindsay (Jon) Keen both of Liberty, brother: Eddie Price of Liberty, three sisters: Jill (Bruce) Smith of Hustonville, Jan Thomas of Somerset and Debbie (John) Wentzell of Columbia, S.C., three grandchildren: Clay Johnson, Avery and Hudson Keen, as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Jay was preceded in death by his father, a grandson: Carson Johnson and two brothers: Craig Price and James Timothy Price.

 

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Friday May 10th, 2019 and after 8:00 A.M. on Saturday May 11th, 2019 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

Robert T. “Bobby” Callison, 81, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Paul E. Callison and Frances Cheatham Callison, was born April 12, 1938 in Adair County, KY.  He died at 2:14 P.M., Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Campbellsville.        
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church. Bobby was a retired co-owner and operator of Dairy Queen in Campbellsville, having started working there as a sophomore in high school; he was there for more than 60 years.  Early in life, he enjoyed motorcycles and later enjoyed golfing, bowling, vacationing with friends and even built his own car and attended many car shows.  He was very active in the Special Olympics with his son, Jason.
 
He united in marriage to Lucille “Luci” Colvin March 26, 1977.

J.R. Bowen, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late James Herbert Bowen and Maude Lee Wade Bowen, was born November 20, 1930 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Louisville.   
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mannsville United Methodist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. J.R. was a retired dairy and tobacco farmer and an accomplished watermelon grower. J.R. served his church, country, and community with constant devotion and abiding love. He was a caring husband, loving father, and proud PaPaw. J.R. was a humble leader, trusted counselor, and a teacher to all who wished to learn. His friendship and testimony made a difference in the lives of many but most especially for his family. He is and continues to be a good and faithful servant of God.
 
He united in marriage to Bernice Mardis May 19, 1954.

ANNABEL HOOKER, 1, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Annabel Sarnai Hooker, the 1-year-old infant daughter of Timothy Wayne Hooker & Gana Ganbold Hooker, was born April 29, 2018 in Jefferson County, KY. She died at 2:39 A.M. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.   
 
Though she faced several health-related difficulties, Annabel was a joy to all who knew her (including medical staff, who often noted her smiles and laughter).
 
Besides her parents, Timothy & Gana Ganbold Hooker of Campbellsville, she is survived by 1 brother, Josiah Hooker; paternal grandparents: Mike & Jody Hooker of Paducah; paternal aunt & her husband: Cindy & Kevin Glisson of Wickliffe

RAY ENGLAND, 70, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Ray England, 70, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Hollis England and Myrtle Clark England, was born July 15, 1948 in Barren County, Kentucky. He died at 6:17amET on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Campbellsville. 
 
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Holiness faith. Ray was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom, having worked in both Campbellsville and Jamestown for over 37 years. He enjoyed watching the UK Wildcats, all westerns, the Young and Restless, Jerry Springer and General Hospital. He loved his family and enjoyed visiting his brothers and sisters just about every day.

3 sisters: Judy Gwinn, Emma Jean Lewis and Rosemary Rainwater and husband, Danny of Campbellsville; 1 step-brother & 3 step-sisters: Tony Parker of Campbellsville, Patty Cissell of Russell Springs, Kathy Benedict of Louisville and Bonnie Harris and husband, Gary of New Hope; 1 sister-in-law & 1 step-brother-in-law: Helen England and Donnie Clements of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Joseph Olin “Jody” England, Sr., Jerry England, Della England and a brother in infancy and one step-sister, Amanda Clements; his step-mother, Theresa England and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Gwinn.

REV. CHARLES "LANNY" WHITLEY, 67, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Rev. Charles Lantas “Lanny” Whitley, 67, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Howard Lantas Whitley and Naomi Korine Boston Whitley, was born September 5, 1951 in Taylor County, KYky. He died at 11:37 P.M., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Campbellsville.
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Faith Covenant Ministries in Campbellsville. He pastored several churches including Smith’s Grove United Methodist and Warehouse Non-denominational Church in Lancaster and was the owner of a truck driving company for several years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing golf but his true passion was preaching, teaching and sharing the word of God.
 
Rev. Whitley united in marriage to Diane Robinson April 22, 2004.

John Edward Halsey, 76, of Knifley, KY died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his home. He was born July 23, 1942, in Coshocton, Ohio, to the late Jesse John and Anna Marie Batt Halsey.
 
He was also preceded in death by 2 children in infancy.  
 
John was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired as Material Manager for Fleetwood.

Donald Elwood "Donnie" Reynolds, 80, of Summersville, KY, son of the late Elmer Reynolds and Emma Higgason Reynolds, was born November 14, 1938 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Taylor Regional Hospital. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church, and attended the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was retired from Civil Service with Fort Knox. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army, was a member of the Rod Lowe American Legion Post #124, and the Disabled American Veterans.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild: Carly Henderson; 1 sister: Joyce Vance; and 2 brothers: Arnold Reynolds and Manford Reynolds.
