Shirley K. Hopper, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at OSU Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was 79 years of age. Born on March 8, 1942 in Russell County, KY, she was a daughter of the late James Henry and Laura Grace Bolin Kerr.
Shirley was a homemaker and a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church, which she loved. She was also a life-long learner, avid reader, and held a real-estate license. Shirley loved babies and children, and was the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She loved to travel and had explored the world with her daughter, Vicki. She also enjoyed lake vacations with the whole family. Shirley will be remembered as a sweet lady, who always had a smile and was a true servant to people.

3 daughters: Vicki (Ronald) Hopper Wysocki of Columbus, Ohio; Sherri Branscum Hartman of Russell Springs, KY; and Kimberly (John) Hopper Francis of Bridgeton, Missouri
5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Lee Potts, II, Tristan John (Sarah) Francis, Zachary Wysocki, Clancey Caroline Hopper, and Madelynn (Jacob) Francis Hendrickson
4 great-grandchildren: Dylan McKenzee Potts, Jael Lynn Hendrickson, Nava Marie Hendrickson, and Talia Leslie Hendrickson
2 sisters: Wanda Brown of Russell Springs and Sue (Jack) Hopper of Jamestown
2 sisters-in-law: Betty Kerr and Pam Kerr, both of Russell Springs
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by 2 brothers: William “Buddy” Kerr and Stevie Kerr, and a brother-in-law, Dewey Brown.
Funeral services will be held privately for family at 1:00pmCT on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Bernard Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Dr. John Francis officiating.
Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pmCT on Saturday, August 28, 2021 and from 8:00 A.M. until service time on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Bernard Funeral Home.
The Hopper family requests that everyone in attendance wear facial coverings.
