TIMOTHY DONALD HUBBARD, 60, EDMONTON

 
Timothy Donald Hubbard, 60, Edmonton, KY passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.  He was the son of Jimmie Hubbard of Edmonton and the late Ruth Smith Hubbard.  Tim was a retired truck driver, army veteran and deacon of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Central Time Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 at the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

CARLOTTA SUE SANDERS DAVIS-MAYES, 66, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Carlotta Sue Sanders Davis-Mayes, 66 years, 8 months, 25 days of age, of Campbellsville, died Thursday at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
 
Carlotta was born on January 3, 1951 the daughter of the late Charles Christopher and Mary Margie Wethington Sanders in Liberty, KY.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marketta Ann Morris, Monica Lee Sanders and Phyllis Lee Wethington as well as 2 grandchildren and one step-daughter, DeAnna Ramsey. She served her family faithfully as a homemaker prior to her illness and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
 
She is survived by her husband, Howard Mayes of Campbellsville as well as one son and three daughters, Dennis and Tiffany Davis of Campbellsville, Cheryl Sanders and David Stayton of Bonnieville, Amanda Davis and Junior Richards of Campbellsville, Stephanie Davis and Paul Rucker of Bowling Green, step-children, Keith and Carol Mayes of Campbellsville, Mandy Workman of Illinois and Billy Mayes of LaGrange, 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.   Also surviving are her siblings, Charles and Phyllis Sanders of Georgetown, Ronnie  and Judy Sanders, Donna and Paul Kistler, and Connie and Gary Summers all of Florida, Sonja and Dennis Thompson of New Haven and Margo Sanders of Campbellsville.
 
Funeral service for Carlotta will be held at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery at Clementsville with pallbearers being Darien Bishop, Cade Sanders, Joseph Bagby, Cody Wheatley, K.C. Davis, Milton Buckner, Gabriel Carter, Jeff Monday and Chris Sanders.  Honorary bearers are Phyllis Sanders, Catherine Mayes and Sheila Underwood.
 
Family request visitation from 2-7 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home. 
 

DAVID E. WALTER, 84, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
David E. Walters of Campbellsville, son of the late Albert Walters and Lucy Garnett Walters, was born February 23, 1933, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 3:14 A.M., Friday, September 29, 2017 in Campbellsville.  Age: 84
 
He professed faith in Christ and attended Faith Alive Ministry.
 
He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
 
David united in marriage to Norma Jean Williams December 29, 1951.
 
Besides his wife, Norma Jean Walters of Campbellsville, he is survived by two daughters: Connie Bland and husband, J. T. and Judy Humphress and husband, Mike of Campbellsville; five grandchildren:  Jenny Powell and  husband, Richard of Elizabethtown, David Anderson and wife, Karen of Leitchfield, Kristy Nelson of Campbellsville, Jessica Kimbler and husband, Jay of Columbia and Ashley Hunt and husband, Matt of Calvary; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters:  Barbara Pike and Lois Richardson of Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael David Humphress and three brothers and two sisters: Herbert Walters, Raymond “Bill”: Walters, Howard Walters in infancy, Edith Lawson and Virginia Shively.

Dwight Rich age 54 years of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 3:15 AM at his home after brief illness. He was born on May 21, 1963 in Louisville, KY. He was the son of the late Harris & Doris Carby Rich of Adair County, KY.

Dwight was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church, a rural mail carrier at the Columbia post office for 27 years, member, past president & director of the Adair County Sportsmen’s Club, Adair County 4-H Shooting  Sports Coach, Adair County Band Boosters for many years, coach at the Adair Little League football, baseball, softball, basketball, past president of the Green River Kruzers Car Club, was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and was a disc jockey at WHVE 92.7 The WAVE.
 
Funeral service Friday, September 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Clergy officiating Bro. Troy Long, Mark Cundiff & Bro. Jordan Abell. Visitation after 4:00 PM Thursday.

ROLLIN BARNETT, JR., 86, GREENSBURG

 
Rollin Barnett, Jr., was born March 2, 1931 in Green County, KY to the late Rollin Barnett, Sr. and Ozella Richardson Barnett. He departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at The Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Campbellsville, having attained the age of eighty six years, six months and twenty-four days.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Jacob Grove Baptist Church, where he formerly served on the Jacob Grove Usher Board and as a trustee. He worked at Bourbon Cooperage in Lebanon for several years. He also worked at the Green County Courthouse. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lucy Smith Barnett, one son: Stephon Barnett and one brother: George (Pete) Washington Barnett.
 
He is survived by one daughter: Holly Barnett of Greensburg, two sons and two daughters-in-law: Earl and Mary Barnett of Campbellsville and James and Thresa Barnett of Elizabethtown, three sisters: Shirley Scott, Francis (Babe) Compton and Annie Shively, all of Louisville, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

JOSHUA KEITH KNIFLEY, 33, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Joshua Keith Knifley, age 33, the son of Rodney Keith Knifley and Vickie Farmer Knifley of Campbellsville, was born Monday, July 2, 1984 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Lebanon. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Church of God Faith. He was employed by Kentucky Cooperage in Lebanon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his biggest enjoyment was his two sons.
 
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents: Robert Farmer, Sr. and Billy Joe and Gladys Knifley.
 
Besides his parents, Joshua is survived by his two sons: Ethan Knifley of Columbia and Landon Knifley of Lebanon; his sister: Brittany Knifley Mann and husband Jason of Campbellsville; his grandmother: Margie Edwards and husband Donald of Campbellsville; special friend: Stephanie Sullivan of Lebanon and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral service for Joshua Keith Knifley will be Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Mike Cox and Bro. Evan Tedder officiating.
 
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday and after 7 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

STANLEY COY LANE, 88, LIBERTY

 
Stanley Coy Lane, of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at his home in Liberty, having attained the age of 88.
 
Born on February 21, 1929, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Roy and Joyce Murphy Lane. Stanley was a corporal in the United States Army. He retired from General Motors after 29.5 years of dedicated service with the company. He was an avid golfer. Stanley was known for his love of cars; he also enjoyed detailing them. 
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Corn Lane, whom he wed on July 7, 1989; a daughter, Gina (and Raymond) Rico of Jonesboro, Georgia; stepdaughters, Elizabeth (and Mark) Pierce of Kaysville, Utah and Malena (and Brian) Shaw of Clarksville, Indiana; and a step-son, Steven (and Lois) Ware of Scottsburg, Indiana. 
 
Other survivors include 2 grandchildren, Adam and Nick; 2 great-grandchildren, Dottie and Pia; 9 step-grandchildren, Sonny, Kayla, Stephanie, Stevie, Erin, Morgan, Eli, Mahala and Dante; and 6 step great-grandchildren, Jared, Evie, Jax, Liam, Silas and Oliver. 
 
In addition to his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by his first wife, Jewel Price Lane; 2sisters, Evelyn Hicks and Lillian Hatfield; and 3 brothers, Wayne Lane, Hershel Lane and Lonnie Lane. 
 
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pmET on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Crenshaw, Bro. Raymond Burgess and Rev. Raymond Alstott officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Honor Guard.
 
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00pmET on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

DOUGLAS EUGENE MELSON, 58, HUSTONVILLE (NATIVE ADAIR COUNTIAN)

 
Douglas “Doug” Eugene Melson, 58, of Hustonville went to his Eternal Home on Friday, September 22, 2017. Born September 21, 1959, he was the son of Eugene and Ruth Melson of Columbia. For the past 37 years, Doug had been a member of Hilltop Trinity Full Gospel Tabernacle Church where he sang and played guitar. He had worked as a radio DJ in Liberty and Columbia and worked at the Liberty Care Center as the Business Office Manager.
 
In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Brenda Calhoun Melson; daughter, Beth (Earl) Tolley of Hustonville; sister, Cindy (Jeff) Greer of Arizona; mother-in-law, Donna Calhoun of Danville; and father-in-law, Kenneth (Pam) Calhoun of IN.
 
Services will be at 1 pm Tuesday at Hilltop Trinity Full Gospel Tabernacle Church by Bro. Don Clark. (Church address is 2080 Calhoun Creek Rd, Liberty, KY - church is on corner of Calhoun Creek Rd and KY 1649). Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 pm, Monday at W.L. MARTHA GREER, 60, DANVILLE (FORMERLY OF C-VILLE)

 
Martha Greer, age 60, formerly of Campbellsville died Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Danville.
 
Martha was born September 16, 1957, the daughter of the late William Basil and Ella Mae Parrott Wethington in Clementsville, KY.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Greer, Sr. and siblings, James Larry Wethington, Frances Cox, Jerry Wethington, Gordon Wethington, Mary Clements, Charles Wethington and Pat Propes. Prior to becoming ill, she was a full-time homemaker and recently enjoyed spending time on Facebook.
 
She is survived by sons, Clay Greer and wife, Sandy of Nicholasville, Tony Wethington and companion, Timothy King and Richard Greer, Jr. and girlfriend, Eva Peterson, of Danville; daughters, Angie Chafie and husband, Larry of Stanford, Holly Greer and Heather Tatum and husband, DeWayne of Harrodsburg as well as ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Charlotte Tungate, Dean Wethington and wife, Sue, Tom Wethington and wife, Nina and Michael Wethington, all of Campbellsville, Betty Stewart and husband, Jimmy of Harlan County and Joseph Wethington and Leona of Liberty.
 
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clementsville with Rev. George Otuma officiating.
 
Burial in the church cemetery with casket bearers being: Junior Greer, T.J. Wethington, Brandon Massey, Bill Wethington, C.J. Wethington and Tom Wethington. Honorary bearers are: Anthony Wethington, Clayton Greer, Holly Greer, Angela Chafie, T.K. King, Brittany Massey and Eva Peterson.

BETTY SMITH, 87, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Betty Smith, age 87 of Campbellsville, KY died Friday, September 22, 2017 in Campbellsville following a lengthy illness. 
 
She was born on January 15, 1930 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late John Caspar and Annabelle Shannon Guenther.  She was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church and in her earlier years worked as a cashier for Kroger.
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Mae Alexander and Laverne Hardin.
 
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Smith, Sr.; a son, Leon Smith and his wife, Karen of Russellville; a daughter, Norma “Sissie” Wheeler and her husband, Bobby of Perryville; four grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Wheeler, Steven (Heather) Wheeler, Aaron (Heather) Smith and Tyler (Taylor) Smith and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Ella, Naomi and Lydia Wheeler.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 25th at the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Walters officiating.  Entombment will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
 
The family requests visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the funeral service.
 
Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon Bibles or Hosparus Green River.  Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
 
The family expressed deep appreciation to Hosparus Green River for the excellent care they provided and to Lowell Avenue Baptist Church for the care extended through these times.

Mrs. Evelyn Wilson, age 89 of Greensburg, KY passed away on Friday at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville.

A son and daughter-in-law: Gary & Thurasa Wilson of Louisville.
2 brothers and 1 sister: Ray Brown and Garlan Brown of Erlington, Ky. and Faye Gary of Isley, Ky.

GLADYS MARIE EMERSON, 96, LIBERTY

 
Gladys Marie Emerson, age 96, of Tennessee Ridge Road in Casey County, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the UK Hospital in Lexington.
 
Born June 5, 1921, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Mae Owens Phillippe. Gladys was a housewife and a member of the Shady Grove Separate Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include her sons, R.C. (and Kelli) Emerson of Findlay, OH, Murrell (and Connie) Emerson of Greenwood, SC, and Carroll Dean Emerson of Woodburn, IN; daughters, Joann (and John) Miller of Hustonville, Jean (and Carl) Raley of Mt. Washington, and Susie Peek of Crab Orchard; sisters, Beulah Williams of Middleburg, Norma Jean Ashley of Eubank, and Orpha Godbey of Carrolton; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Emerson, whom she wed on October 1, 1937; brothers, Jessie, Janis, and J.R. Phillippe; sister, Annie Bess Mandel; son-in-law, Tommy Peek; daughter-in-law, Dixie Emerson; grandchildren, Suzanne Peek, Frankie Emerson, and Tony Emerson; and great-grandchildren, Chris and Amanda Reed.
 
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Shady Grove Separate Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Bailey, Bro. Casey Davis, Bro. Richie Curtis, and Bro. Jamie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
 
Visitation will be from 3-8PM on Sunday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and on Monday after 9:00AM at the Church.

BETTY ANN LEE THOMPSON, 84, LIBERTY

 
Betty Ann Lee Thompson, from Liberty, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation in Danville, Kentucky. She was 84. 
 
Born on August 21, 1933, in Bainbridge, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late John Dave and Anna Lacy Cunningham. Betty was a member of Westside Christian Church and attended Grace Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. Betty was a house cleaner. 
 
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara (Donnie) Phillips of Jacksonville, FL, Anita Pike of Liberty, KY, Suzi (Donald) Overstreet of Sonora, KY, and Linda (Tim) Carman of Hustonville, KY; and four sons, Allen (Martha) Thompson of Liberty, KY, Danny (Lisa) Thompson of Danville, KY, David (Janice) Thompson of Lebanon, TN, and Timmy (Jill) Thompson of Hustonville, KY. Other survivors include fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. 
 
In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her previous husband, Alfred Thompson; a sister, Mildred Huff; and three brothers, Uriah Frank, Robert Chester Lee and Manley Gene Lee. 
 
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Carman officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Josie Gyde, age 19, of Liberty, KY passed away on Wednesday September 20th, 2017 at U.K. Healthcare. She was born in Petoskey, MI on February 5th, 1998 a daughter of Butch Gyde and Patricia Hutchinson both of Liberty.
 
Additional Survivors include: One Brother: Joshua Gyde of Liberty, Grandfather: Earl Gyde of Newberry, MI.
 
Preceding her in death was her Grandparents: Fredia Hutchinson, Edward Max Hutchinson and Anna June Gyde.

LEONARD BARNETT, 90, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Leonard Barnett, age 90 of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late William “Little Bill” Barnett and Mary Johnson Barnett, was born January 2, 1927, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 11:51 A.M., Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Campbellsville. 
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church, where he was a Trustee for over 40 years. He was a retired knitting room employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Leonard enjoyed farming and gardening and after his retirement, he was able to dedicate more time to fishing. He united in marriage to Jennie Myers April 25, 1953. 
 
Besides his wife, Jennie Barnett of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Randy Barnett and wife, Kelly of Rineyville and Linda Humphress and husband Mike of Campbellsville; 4 grandchildren: Levi Barnett and Chelsey Gorham & husband Bobby of Louisville, Austin Seaborne and wife, Emina of Elizabethtown and Ashley Silas and husband, Jon of Rineyville; 2 great-grandchildren: Madison Silas of Rineyvillle and Elena Hatler of Elizabethtown; one brother and one sister: Ralph Barnett and wife, Dorothy of Mt. WILLIAM "WOODY" COWAN, 84, HOPKINSVILLE (NATIVE OF COLUMBIA)

 
William “Woody” Cowan, 84, of Hopkinsville, KY died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Christian Heights Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.
 
A native of Columbia, Ky., he was born June 19, 1933, the son of the late William and Ada Florence Sampson Cowan. He was a factory worker at Phillip’s Product in Hopkinsville. He was a member of the Eagles Club and was a U.S. Army veteran.
 
Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Hammons and Janice Young, both of Clarksville; his sons, Billy Cowan and Ronnie Cowan, both of Hopkinsville and Michael Cowan, Russellville; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
There will be no immediate services. The body is being donated to science.

Bobby "Bob" Tackett, Sr., 79, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at TJ Health Columbia.
 
He was born April 12, 1938, in Morehead, Kentucky, to the late Clyde James & Artie Johnson Tackett.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Tackett, and one sister, Vanetta Tackett.  He was a United States Navy Veteran and a retired truck driver for Giant Foods in Maryland & Sears in Florida.

 Vernon McQueary, age 79, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Born August 11, 1938, in Gilpin, KY, he was a son of the late Marvin Gerald McQueary and Laura Clark McQueary. Vernon was retired from the IT Department for Verizon. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky. Vernon loved computers and technology. He enjoyed music and was a very devoted “family man”. Vernon was a skilled woodworker and furniture maker. He was an avid UK fan and a member of the First Christian Church in Liberty, KY. Vernon was a US Army Veteran. 
 
Survivors include his dear wife, whom he wed on September 7, 1963, Bette Kinne McQueary; son, Michael McQueary of Hillsborough, NC; sisters, Barbara (and Joe) Beeler, Glenda Wesley, and JoAnn McQueary, all of Liberty; three grandchildren, Ryan, Jake, and Nikki; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Aubree.
 
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald and Gilbert McQueary. 
 
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Thursday, September 21, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronn Oren officiating. Philip Thompson, age 63, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Jimmie Alva Thompson and Bessie Emma Whitlock Thompson was born July 15, 1954 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 1:50 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Campbellsville. 
 
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted employee of Overhead Door for some 46 years and was a lifelong farmer. In Philip’s spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a former Club House member of the American Legion Post 82.
 
He united in marriage to Pam Gabehart June 28, 1980.
Besides his wife, Pam Thompson, he is survived by two brothers and four sisters:

Clara Geneva Hayes, 96 years of  Chelsea, Michigan formerly of the Glensfork Community of Adair County, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Chelesa Retirement Center in Chelea, Michigan. She was born in Creelsboro, Kentucky March 24, 1921 the daughter of the late Fred and Jennie Ross Acree. Mrs. Hayes was of the Methodist faith and was retired from the University of Michigan.
 
She was preceded in death by a son: Winston Hayes; brothers: Ross Acree, Joe Acree,  Dick Acree and A V Acree; sister: Minnie Dermody.
 
Survived by one daughter Sylvia Doughty and husband John of Saline, Michigan.

GLENN "RED" NIXON, 79, COLUMBIA

 
Glynn “Red” Nixon, 79, of Columbia, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:30 A.M. at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville.
 
He was born July 5, 1938, in Adair County, to the late Frank & Polly Hood Nixon.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Nixon, and one sister, Dorothy Nixon. 
 
Red was an original member of the Adair County Rescue Squad and a former member of the Adair County Jaycees.  He was a retired educator and coach in the Adair County School System, having taught science and physical education and coached basketball, cross country, golf and track.  He was also a longtime carpenter and of the Christian faith.

ROBERT "BOB" KINGSBURY, 87, RUSSELL SPRINGS

 
Robert "Bob" Kingsbury, 87, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Russell County Hospital. 
 
He was born September 15, 1929, in Gouverneur, New York to the late Charles and Fern Wood Kingsbury. Bob was an electrician at Reynolds Metals and a member of both the US Air Force and the US Army.

LINDA PATTERSON, 50, OF LIBERTY

 

Linda Patterson, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at her home in Casey County. She was 50.
Born on October 16, 1966, in Liberty, she was a daughter of Robert and Ivadean Singleton Patterson. Linda worked on a farm all her life. She could make friends with anyone due to her kind personality.


In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Roseane Lee and LeKeisha Carter of Eubank; three sisters, Diana Raymond Poff of Liberty, Lisa (Keith) Taylor of Stanford and Connie Patterson of Liberty. She is also survived by three grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray Patterson and Robert "Jr." (Jess) Patterson, both of Liberty.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Patterson.

LILA NELLIE RODGERS, 81, OF LIBERTY

 

Lila Nellie Rodgers of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at her home.  She was 81 years of age. Born in the Clementsville community of Casey County on January 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joe Alfred and Allie Marie Phillips Clements.  Lila retired from Union Underwear after 32 years.  She loved her family and her animals. Lila also loved to cook. She was a member of Hollins Pentecostal Church. 

 

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy (Vanessa) Shreve of Campbellsville, Gary Rodgers of Dunnville, Mitchell (Amanda) Eads of Liberty; four daughters, Brenda Williamson of Liberty, Ledia (Dallas) Patten of Liberty, Kay Lee of Dunnville, Shannon Mabel Castillo of Columbia; twenty-three grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren and a very special dog, Rocky.

 

In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by her husband, James Carrell Rodgers, who passed away January 31, 2012; two sons, Marcus Shreve and Michael Shreve; two daughters, Kathy Hearon and Cleta Marie Rodgers; one grandson, Zackary Rodgers; and seven sisters, Helen Kelbch, Wanda Clements, Leila Leigh, Hazel Hatter, Hilda Scherrer, Lynn Franklin and Beatrice Clements. 

 

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

 

DON MCWHORTER, 71

 

Don Wilson McWhorter, age 71, died September 14, 2017. He was born June 16th,1946 to Ernest and Lovine McWhorter of Middleburg, KY. Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and completed two tours in Vietnam. He obtained the rank of Sergeant before exiting the military in 1971. He married Lou Ellen Wilkie of Kinston, NC in 1969. In 1971, Don entered the pastorate, serving in various churches in Kentucky and North Carolina. In 1981 he assumed the role of Pastor at Broadway Baptist Church in Richmond, KY. He pastored Broadway until his retirement in 2012. After his retirement, he served as an Elder at God’s Will Baptist Church in Lancaster, KY. Among all his loves and passions, one stood supreme: Preaching the Word of God and Proclaiming the Glory of God in Jesus Christ, the Savior of sinners!  

 

This eternal legacy he has left to his surviving children: Ellen McWhorter Stone (Jerry) of Richmond, KY; Keith (Michele) of Depauw, IN; Bryan of Richmond, KY;  Kenan (Cassandra) of Lancaster, KY, as well as his 8 grandchildren.  All Glory be to God!  “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21). Services will be held at Bartle Funeral Home in Liberty, KY on Saturday, September 16th.  Visitation at 4 p.m.  Funeral service begins at 5 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please give a gift to a missionary you know or to your local church.

Doris Jean Miller, 76, of Columbia, KY died Monday, September 11, 2017 at 9:40 P.M. at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She was born November 2, 1940, in Adair County, to the late John and Christine Burbridge Miller.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by John D. Bailey, two sons; Jimmy and Donnie Miller, a grandson; Marcus Caldwell, one brother and two sisters; Roy Miller, Martha Nell Miller and Lottie Alexander. 
 
Doris was a member of First Baptist Church and had worked in the kitchen at the “old” Circle R, the hospital and nursing home.

Ethan Marion Gaskins, age 66 of Edmonton, KY (a native of Adair Co.) passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was the son of the late Walter Ray and Elsie Guffey Gaskins of Columbia who survives. He was a faithful member of Prices Creek Baptist Church.

Norman Junior McQueen, age 95, of Wickliff, KY formerly of Kings Mountain, KY passed away on Sunday September 10th, 2017 at his daughter’s residence. He was born in Kings Mountain, KY on April 5th, 1922 a son of the late Samuel D. and Rebecca Brooks McQueen. Junior was the widow of Ella B. McQueen who passed away on April 12th, 2016. Junior was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a Farmer and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.

Floyd G. Hash, age 94 of Campbellsville, son of the late James Arthur Hash and Emma Jane Nelson Hash, was born February 12, 1923 in Larue County, KY. He died at 3:56PM Sunday, September 10, 2017 in Campbellsville.  Age: 94
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army as a tank crewman and received The American Theater Ribbon, Purple Heart Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He was a retired educator in the Taylor County School System.
 
He united in marriage to Frances Hedgespeth December 25, 1945 and she preceded him in death December 4, 2009.
 
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Loretta Hash of Campbellsville; two grandsons: Garin Hash and wife, Tammy and Griffin Hash and wife, Adrienne and four great-grandchildren: Austin Bradley Hash, Arren Michael Hash, Gracyne Rose Hash and William Seth Hash all of Campbellsville; three brothers-in law: Forster Hedgespeth and wife, Lula Mae, Lilburn Hedgespeth and wife, Eleanor and Ralph Hedgespeth and wife, Galoris of Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

CINDY MONDAY, 72, LIBERTY

 
Cindy Monday, age 72 of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Born on March 13, 1946, in Richmond, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Wan and Evelyn Friedline Foust. Cindy was of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints faith. She was an animal lover and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She cherished spending time with her family and grandkids. Cindy and her husband, Randall, were self-employed truck drivers. 
 
She is survived by her husband, Randall Monday, whom she wed on July 14, 2004; three step-daughters, Lona (and Brett) Woodrum of Liberty, Heather Slavey of Nancy and Laurie (and Charlie) Bryant of Liberty; and a step-son, Shawn Monday. She is also survived by a brother, Michael (and Kathy) Foust of Kissimmee, Florida; and six step-grandchildren, Presley, Katie, Sydney, Madison, Brody and Charley Shay. 
 
In addition to her parents, Cindy is preceded in death by a brother, Shawn Foust. 
 
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Larry D. Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

Margo Crew Moore, age 52 of Liberty, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Born on November 17, 1964, in Liberty, she was a daughter of the late John Rufus and Violet Odetta Carter Crew. Margo was a housewife. She loved her animals and spending time with her granddaughter. She referred to her loving granddaughter, Haley, as “Mamaw’s heart.”
 
She is survived by her husband, Tim Elliot of Liberty; a son, Jimmy (and Robin) Crew of Middleburg; and a granddaughter, Haley Marie Crew. Other survivors include three brothers, Billy Crew of Liberty, Timmy Crew of Liberty and Jeff Crew of Stanford.

Eural G. “Jeff” Jeffries of Campbellsville, age 89, son of the late Roy Hobert Jeffries and Flora Mae Davis Jeffries was born October 14, 1927 in Green County, Kentucky. He died at 4:30 P.M., Friday, September 8, 2017 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He professed faith in Christ and attended Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
 
He was a veteran of WWII having served his country honorably in the United States Army during the occupation of Japan. Before his retirement he was a truck driver and mechanic. Jeff could fix anything and got great pleasure from helping family and friends with repairs. His greatest desire was to see all of his family profess faith in Christ so they could have a big reunion in heaven. 
 
He united in marriage to Norma Jean Gabehart March 7, 1970. 
Besides his wife, Norma Jean Jeffries of Campbellsville, he is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son: Michelle Jeffries of Campbellsville, Karen Vincent of Louisville and Tommy Jeffries of Plano, Texas; 2 step-children, Karen Mackin and husband Danny and David Scheler of Louisville; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. 
 
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother: Mary “Matt” Bishop, Vera Opal Davenport and James L. Jeffries.

GARY C. RUSSELL, 84, LIBERTY

 
Gary C. Russell, age 84, of Liberty passed away on Monday, September 4th 2017.
 
He was born November 23, 1932, in Casey County, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Russell. Gary was a Univerity of Kentucky graduate, earning two degrees, Agriculture and Engineering. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and was based in Augsburg, Germany. His professional career included building materials sales, partner in a kitchen manufacturing company, and electrification projects with Kentucky Utililities.
 
He married the love of his life of 63 years, Mary Patria Lee on March 19, 1954. They traveled the world, made lifelong friendships, and enjoyed the life they made together. They had 2 children, a son, Gary Mark (Lisa) Russell of Chattanooga, TN; a daughter, Leeann Foster Russell, of Memphis, TN; and 1 grandson, John Mark (Danielle) Russell of Richmond, KY. He cherished his family, loved his friends, and never met a stranger.
 
He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church were he served on many committees, sang in the choir, and was passionate about helping his congregation and community. He was a Mason and a Shriner, and was active and served as an officer with the National Association of Homebuilders and the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association.
 
Gary was an antique car enthusiast, avid UK fan, practical joker, and could always be spotted wearing a smile. He lived a full life and will be truly missed by all the lives he touched.
 
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at McKinney Brown Funeral Home with Kim and Rodney Koger officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1PM until 3PM at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately.

Elizabeth Louise (Betty Lou) Marple, age 87, of Liberty, KY passed away on Tuesday September 5th, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born in Atterson, KY on August 31st, 1930 a daughter of the late Van Roy Marple and Mary M. Goode Marple. Betty Lou was the widower of Aaron Kenneth Marple and was a former employee of Kings Department Store and a Member of Gum Lick Christian Church.
 
Survivors include: Two Sons: Phillip and Mike and (Elaine) Marple both of Liberty, Two Daughters: Phyllis Miller of Liberty and Mary Jo Thomas of Dunnville, Six Grandchildren: Timothy Marple, Sharon Richardson, Ronda Wilson, Melanie King, Jessica Thomas and Chad Marple, Ten Great Grandchildren, One Brother: Rodney Lee Marple of Springville, IN and Three Sisters: Billye Meadows, Nancy Parsons and Jo Ann Millikan all of Noblesville, IN.

Kathryn Farris, age 89, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Milton Wright and Mary Lizzie Skaggs Wright, was born July 8, 1928, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 1:32 P.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Campbellsville. She professed faith in Christ and had attended Campbellsville Baptist Church. Kathryn was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

Zach Summers, age 23 of Campbellsville, formerly of Casey County, son of Jayme Summers, died Friday night, September 1, 2017. 
 
Zach was a former Fire Fighter and EMT with Casey, Green and Taylor Counties. He also operated his own lawn mowing service for several years.
